Schultzz,

Thank you for your wonderful reply. I am happy that you are able to incorporate the best of Ekhart Tolle into your life. I hope that you will be able to move further in your spiritual journey by going to the sources that Eckhart Tolle used in his compellation.

Although he is most likely a superior compiler of others thoughts, he is not a break through thinker. You have found value in Tolle and that is great. But, don’t stop at this basic level. Keep moving.

At last! An intelligent poster! Thank you for your sentiments. I shall certainly follow your advice. Thanks again for your insight.

"Now I’m repeating it since you didn’t respond to a word of my post. So be it and NOT my problem. Perhaps you can move on from your hang-up with proper spelling and learn to respond to substance. Perhaps not. "

I certainly DID address your post. If you cannot understand it, that’s your problem. You have shown very little substance in your posts. I am not perfect with my spelling either. I make mistakes. But I try not to. Time to move on.
Huh? Do you go into trances?

YOU correct harmony’s spelling,
then YOU correct my spelling,
then YOU decide it’s time to move on from spelling.

I have moved on in regard to you.

Anyone who blindly supports the “spiritual” insight of a fully
lapsed Catholic (like Tolle) needs the special grace of God.

Not being God, I can’t offer that special grace to you.
I pray though that you receive such grace.

Hope my spelling is ok with you this time though.

Aufweidersein.

Schultzz, the only question that I can think of is simple: who would you trust to listen to, Pope Benedict XVI or Oprah and Tolle? It’s really that simple. If you think Oprah and Tolle can make you a better Catholic, then that might be good for you, but certainly you will not hear anything Catholic from them, thus making it suspect. I would still put my bet on listening to the Pope, to the saints, to the early Church Fathers as the best way to become Catholic. Read them and study them. They will certainly make you a better Catholic, much more so than Oprah and Tolle.

For the record, a Catholic apologist on CA has already
addressed the issue of Tolle and his writing.

Re: Eckhart Tolle: A new world

Hi,

That Oprah promotes it should be a tip off that it is most likely a superficial pop fad. Eckhart Tolle is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition. He dabbles. No self help book will give you more peace than does the Gospel. What such books avoid (and this one in particular) is the cross. This Holy Week (and every week), we need to remember that to be His disciple, we must deny ourselves and take it up. ONLY then will we ever know peace.

“Aufweidersein.”

Thank you for your kind intentions. God’s blessing upon you.

You have stated your opinions and sentiments. Thank you.

Unfortunately you have spelled “Aufwiedersehen” incorrectly. I used to live not far from where our current Pope was born. His German is precise although his Bavarian accent is still somewhat noticeable.

You are somewhat judgemental. I suspect that you learned this behavior from your upbringing. I feel that you could possible get something good out of Tolle’s current workshop on the internet. Why don’t you check it out and then get back to us.
Is Tolle a “lapsed Catholic”? I really don’t know. But I do believe in the “Prodigal Son” as I am definitely one myself. Why not send him an email asking him the truth about his religious views instead of guessing.

We all need special grace from God. Why do I get the feeling that if you were God, you wouldn’t give me your blessing, but you would instead…
well, let’s leave it at that.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for your post. Unless I have interpreted incorrectly, Tolle is a devout Christian. It is obvious to me that he loves the teachings and scripture of Jesus. He often quotes scripture.

“We are made in the image and likeness of our Lord to, ultimately, spend eternity deeply in love with Him and in worship of Him.”

Definitely yes.
And I believe that these are the feelings of Tolle also. It is impossible in my opinion to leave God out of the “present moment”, for that is where He is to be found. He certainly is NOT in your regrets of yesterday, and NOT in your worries of tomorrow. Why not listen to the series on the internet and see what it can do for you instead of guessing and listening to the diatribe of those on this thread who “wag their heads”? (“Poor Schultzz, he is lost for sure now.”) Not so.
Do you have any idea how insulting you are in some of your posts?
Diatribes of those on this thread?
Wag their heads? You assume much
You have shown very little substance in your post? Why because they disagree with you?
Pointing out others spelling errors.
Ah an intellegent poster! ~~~~~~ Meaning what?, that all others are beneath you? and again that could only be because they are in disagreement with you
Others are biased.~~~~~~~ Because again they do not believe in Tolle!
If this is how Tolle is effecting you, then yes you best be very carefull!
No one is quetioning your devotion to your faith, however the way you keep defending it, by telling us all that you do (not neccessary) should be a warning signal to you!~

If I were as bound in rigidity as you, I’d be counting the number of ways you’ve insulted me but since you’ve made yourself clearly known I won’t bother. I get it.
Those who disagree with you are verboten.
Those who allow you to praise such as Tolle without challenge are grand.

(Speaking of rigidity, thanks for the correction of my auf weidersehn (aufwiedersehn). I doubted you could resist it.)

Dreadful that you’ve even wandered into an area that doubts my prayers for you, but again, that’s your problem, not mine. Your doubt is something that goes hand-and-hand with looking for truth to come from someone who’s left the Church. Don’t you know better than that?

"No one is quetioning your devotion to your faith, "

Not true. Read the posts of those “righteous” folks. And pardon my mild obsession with spelling errors. To me they say a great deal about the poster and how they think and reason. May I suggest “quick to make errors in spelling - quick to make errors in judgement.”

You offered your opinion, I told you mine. No, I do not think I am better than you or anyone else. I am sorry you made that deduction. I merely point to the fact that we are all sinners. Perhaps I am a greater sinner than you, but the posturing of the attitudes in regard to my posts reeked of bias, not from a researched opinion but from “quick draw” mentality. Quick to defend yet without taking the time to learn what the truth is.

You have shown very little substance in your post? Why because they disagree with you?

Could you please tell me what this statement means?

Thank you for being honest and forthright.

As I said in a previous post Schultzz I am studying the book myself. Though I have found in it words of wisdom I do believe he mixes spiritual streams. His book is full of Eastern thoughts. And I am being sincere when I say this, I wonder how God sees someone borrowing from his words and mixing it with other beliefs? Does it make other beliefs seem more acceptable? Does it encourage others to read the Bible? Where does this mixture of spiritual streams lead one too? You say it led you to a closer relationship with God. That is good, but not every one that follows him has a relationship with God as their foundation.

In one interview with Oprah out of his own mouth he said he believes in reincarnation. I am not catholic and if the man claims to have gone back to his faith I have no reason to doubt him. However Reincarnation is not found in Christianity. I am not here though to rip him apart. I do believe Tolle is sincere. Like I said before though, his message is not new, just repackaged.

Before I purchased his book I found another with a similar name that I really have enjoyed. Ever hear of Meister Eckhart? I consider him a mystic and I found his words profound…and as a former New Ager, probably “safer” for me than Tolle. LOL .

Hi Auriel,

Thank you for your post. I like your handle. Reminds me of an Angel.

Good point. I do not believe in reincarnation either. I think it is a heresy.
So now you know that I don’t agree with everything that Tolle professes.
I take the things that work for me and leave the rest.

Before I purchased his book I found another with a similar name that I really have enjoyed. Ever hear of Meister Eckhart? I consider him a mystic and I found his words profound…and as a former New Ager, probably “safer” for me than Tolle. LOL .

Thanks for your recommendation. I’ll check it out. As a former “New Ager”, your testimony is very powerful. You have the potential to bring others back to the faith.

Guess I should jump in with this quote from a post of yours. You’ll remember it.

If you have a need to accuse others of being "judgmental," you might want to learn to spell the word. Rarely do I mention another's spelling but considering your words in this post, why not?

Now, as Auriel says, the man believes in reincarnation!
What could he possibly teach you to help build your Faith?

Very good.

You’re willing to hear Auriel.

That’s a great start.

(Hope she can spell though.)

Shultzz, You came on here espousing Tolle and how he has helped you in your Catholic Faith. Am I correct?
OK! Just a clue here ~~~~~~ That is your opinion. Am I correct?

Fine all well and good, This is a discussion forum, and A catholic one, SO! in the discussion part, there are those who disagree with your adoration of Tolle, That is their right, this is a discussion.
If you cannot have a legitimate dialogue with others without being sarcastic and insulting then perhaps posting your belief on a forum is not for you. Not everyone is going to agree with you, this is the real world.
On the spelling issue, so absurdly judgemental of you, there are some on here who’s first language is not English,so spelling can get messed up.
SO! I am going to say this, you can keep Tolle, you have been very insulting, judgemental and sarcastic, and there was absolutely no need for that. No one was being insulting or sarcastic to you.~~~~~~~ I am left wondering why you are taking all this disagreement with your assestment with Tolle so
Very personal:hmmm:

Hello Catharina,

If you have a need to accuse others of being “judgmental,” you might want to learn to spell the word. Rarely do I mention another’s spelling but considering your words in this post, why not?

Hey! Congratulations you found an error in my spelling. Thank you for pointing that out. The dictionary suggests that “judgemental” is an archaic way of spelling “judgmental”. So apparently it was spelled that way at one time. But sincerely, thank you for showing me my error.

Nordar, probably no surprise, but I agree with much of what you’ve said to schultzz. Naturally, schultzz can keep Tolle, having his own free will. No doubt about that. However, others (including WE) will say that is not a wise or prudent thing to do since Tolle is in no position to teach anything to a Catholic, having no faith that is compatible with our faith. (E.g. reincarnation? Ah, no way.)

Are you bored or are you boring? Or are you both? Please, man, take a breather.

There are a number of “errors” in your spelling. I chose to mention one to tie it in with YOUR idea that a misspelled word speaks of a lapse in judgement. Hilarious, IMO, your words again: “And pardon my mild obsession with spelling errors. To me they say a great deal about the poster and how they think and reason. May I suggest “quick to make errors in spelling - quick to make errors in judgement”.”

Hello Nordar,

Thank you for your response. I will consider your viewpoint. I sense some “righteous indignation” in your post. Are you a Moderator?

“your adoration of Tolle,”

Just for the record - There is only one person I adore. It is Jesus Christ.

I don’t think my interpretation of your comments or anyone else’s are any more or less “personal” than yours. Faith and spirituality are topics which ARE personal to people. I just couldn’t understand why people kept making comments which proved that they had not listened to the entire series. Yes I do not accept everything that Tolle says or espouses, yet I defend his right to say them. Yes it IS MY opinion. It is NOT doctrine. No I am NOT perfect, and never said I was. I make mistakes too. (According to Catharina YOU have mispelled the word “judgmental” as I did.) She pointed it out to me. Fine. We all make mistakes. Tolle’s program helped me a great deal. That was my only point. If I was insulting to you or anyone else, then I apologize. I am sorry. We merely “read” other’s posts. We do not have the advantage of person to person contact with audible responses. As a result many posts can be misinterpreted. So I apologize. Have I read more into your subtle comment on “adoration of Tolle”? Is that an insult? Please explain.

"Are you bored or are you boring? Or are you both? Please, man, take a breather. "

Good advice!

(Hope she can spell though.)
Hum, well I do try. Usually when in trouble with my friends it is not for spelling errors but for my peculiar habit of making up words. Lucifer becomes** Loserfer**. Mean Christians have** Churchianity**, a rotten day become a bad daze, etc, etc…

I try to contain myself here though! LOL 👍

Peace,

Auriel
