Pew Research Center estimates that there were about 3.3 million Muslims of all ages living in the United States in 2015. This means that Muslims made up about 1% of the total U.S. population (about 322 million people in 2015), and we estimate that that share will double by 2050.
Our new estimate of Muslims and other faiths is based on a demographic projection that models growth in the American Muslim population since our 2011 estimate and includes both adults and children. The projection uses data on age, fertility, mortality, migration and religious switching drawn from multiple sources, including the 2011 survey of Muslim Americans.
According to our current estimate, there are fewer Muslims of all ages in the U.S. than there are Jews by religion (5.7 million) but more than there are Hindus (2.1 million) and many more than there are Sikhs.

Interesting statistics.
Keep in mind these are very rough approximations, for various reasons.
I was surprised at the large percentage of Americans raised Muslim, who leave Islam. The problem is that there are varying degrees of disaffiliation for all religions. It might mean a person no longer belongs to a mosque, but still holds mostly to Islamic views of life.

American society has assimilated other groups, and likely will assimilate most Muslims too. In my city they have purchased 3 or 4 former Catholic church buildings in the inner city, and started their own tiny schools. They struggle to retain a Muslim culture as best they can. But most of the younger generation - in the few families I am aware of - want to be like other Americans.

Unfortunately, in 2016 American that generally means becoming more secular.

…?..?“Pew Research”…I would certainly question those Islamic reports…they do not seem to know the difference between Churches and Mosques…

pew (pyo͞o)►
n. One of the long, fixed, backed benches that are arranged in rows for the seating of a congregation in church.
n. An enclosed compartment in a church that provides seating for a number of people, such as a family.

No really surprising. Immigration and the fact that Muslim families still tend to have more kids than non-Muslims would definitely cause some increase. And a 1% increase over 35 years isn’t really that much when you think about it. And of course Pew probably doesn’t take into account the increasing irreligious nature of the American public that much either which is hitting Islam just like it is Christianity and all the other major religions.

Pew Research is well respected and well established. The name is historical.

I didn’t see that part. What percentage did it say?

…further, according to Pew…

“There has been little net change in the size of the American Muslim population in recent years due to conversion. About one-in-five American Muslim adults were raised in a different faith or none at all. At the same time, a similar number of people who were raised Muslim no longer identify with the faith. About as many Americans become Muslim as leave Islam.”

Also Pew estimates that India will have the largest Muslim Population exceeding that of Indonesia. The UNited States traded over $60 Billion in goods with India in 2015.

How does that pertain? Just think when St Thomas ventured into India the estimated World Population was probably around 200 Million, today it is over 7 Billion (7300 Million).

70% of the adult population in US and Canada are Christians. The US population identified as Christians fell by 7 million in 7 years but the Latin American population of Catholics grew 7 fold! (Never undersestimate the power of a rose)

Let us continue to pray and work for the conversion of Asia to ****CHRISTIANITY

:twocents:Well without all the facts…one might suggest that it is the US government support systems that decrease the need for social support from the Islamic community in the United States. One should also question the “Voluntary” adherence to the Islamic faith elsewhere in the world before trying to correlate with new estimates of citizens in a country where more freedoms exist.
