You are lucky to be a “Mom of 5”!I just returned from Mass. The priest held the host, said “Body of Christ”, put it in my hand as I said Amen. I thought about this post while at Mass.
As far as the deacon saying it “boldly”, thats just what I noticed. He is very personality-forward. I think thats how they train them here. Its our diosean quirk. Or should I say disorder?
I am afraid that “Estesbob” may be right - - he said:
*“The Deacon is making the distribtion of Communion all about HIM-not about giving people the Body of Christ. Anytime you see anyone do these “cute” little innovations you know its all ego driven and all about bringing attention to themsleves.” *
I must say it really seems this way. Very much so.
Frankly thats exactly what I try to do, all the time, but something jarred me this time, and I had to find out what it was. When I realized what was so off, it truly bothered me. I feel I was supposed to notice this. It was not an error, but a specific act, in his position as teacher and model of the Catholic Faith, to teach a minimization of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist at the moment of presentation.Funny how I never paid a lot of attention to what order the priest presented the Eucharist. I have been in prayer recieving the Eucharist, not concerned with what the priest/deacon/Eucharist minister did correctly…
I feel sick about it.
I feel sick for all the people who are beign robbed of their right as Catholics. True teaching on what is Catholic from their own parish. The wrong order of things is being taught as the right order of things. These acts have big ramifications.
Its wrong.
