I come from a family torn between ardent SSPX members and 4 married in-laws and spouses recently converted to the RCC. neither side is even willing to go to the others’ Mass, which akes it quite difficult during family reunions.
I seem to be the only one willing to go both ways, but neither way really inspires.
To me what the RCC seems to need is a new Mass. One that adheres much more stringently to the Traditional views, but still is one that allows participation.
I don’t want to do away with the TLM, but we need a Mass format that allows and incourages lay participation (in the way of responding to prayers, singing, etc, not distribution Communion), I do not think however that we need to keep the N.O.
We need something inbetween the arch-conservative and the extreme liberal versions of the Mass, if not in place of the N.O. In my honost opinion, the Traditional Mass translated to the vernacular, and prayed aloud would be great.
What say you?
God Bless.
