Here’s a nice 🇺🇸 Patriotic Rosary 🇺🇸 you can say for July 4 or any time you want to pray for our country. One Hail Mary per state, plus prayers for all our elected and appointed officials, and reflections from historic US figures.

I note it is put out by a Friend of Medjugorje, but the Rosary prayers themselves contain nothing relating to Medjugorje or any other apparition. They’re just the usual Rosary prayers.

They should be listed right in the instructions for the Rosary. Edited to add, click the link I gave and scroll down, they list the 10 states for each decade. The Our Fathers are for the President, Supreme Court, Congress, Governors, and county and local officials. Then 10 Hail Marys for each of the 10 states listed per decade, then Glory Be for the conversion of USA.

I and a lot of people from my generation did learn the states in order by singing a song called “Fifty Nifty United States” in which you learned to sing all the states in alphabetical order. It was very popular in schools around the time of the US Bicentennial in 1976.

I used “Fifty Nifty” to memorize the states in alphabetical order and can now recite all 50 states in order in just under 16 seconds. Not exactly a marketable skill, but there you have it. 😂

A friend of mine used to compose music for elementary students, published through a mainline publisher of educational music books. Anyway, she wrote a song called “13 Original Colonies” – so I now know those as well.

Again, not marketable skills, but it could come in handy during trivia games. :+1:t4:
 
My mother had a story to remember the 13 original colonies in the order they joined the Union. It started out, “Della wore a Pin on her New Jersey…” I’ve forgotten the rest, sadly. I think it was written down and stuck in the dictionary or Bible somewhere.
 
That’s very clever.

The song my friend wrote just lists them in the order that sounded the best musically. 😄

But, This ‘Caritas of Birmingham’ has come under scrutiny and, I believe, is even considered a cult. I quickly googled it, and, even the official Medjugorje site has a warning about it:

…as one can see, it has been called ‘not Catholic’ and considered a cult-for at least five years now. I don’t know what the church’s policy is, toward this particular rosary. Just wanted everyone to know. And, I didn’t consider myself late for any ‘4th of July party’…just didn’t want this thread to close, before information on the site was shared.

Please re-read the portion of my original post where I said this rosary Has Nothing In It Related To Medjugorje And Contains Ordinary Rosary Prayers.

The rosary is fine to say, unless you have a problem with praying for the United States using Hail Marys, Our Fathers etc.

Medjugorje and Caritas or whoever are unapproved apparitions. We don’t discuss them on the board and you can pray a Patriotic Rosary while not having anything to do with them, not giving them any money etc.

And yes, you are late to the party here. Fourth of July was weeks ago.
 
The ‘M’ site has, given inspiration to others, of often dubious quality…
Caritas is one of them. I believe it began, when a rich man from Alabama paid for an operation that one of the so-called ‘seers’ had to come to the U.S. to have.
Soon, the ‘seer’ began having visions on this man’s estate, where she was recuperating. It became a tourist trap, some people didn’t want to leave, and out of that grew the Caritas community!
Soon, families of members began to complain, and the ‘cult’ grew. Some lawsuits were filed.
I didn’t want to research too long, because this thread was about to close. But, I did do one google, and, when the official ‘M’ site appeared, as the first result, I posted it.
The man, who uses the pseudonym ‘A Friend of Medjugorje’, has published many books and pamphlets, often using the Bosnian site in their titles, but offering a huge helping of ultra-right wing American subjects, as well. A google of ‘Caritas of Birmingham’ alone will bring up many results, using the word ‘cult’.
I just wanted to let people know. And, I’m sure some of the money received goes to pilgrimages to ‘M’. So, they aren’t totally unrelated.
Sorry if I offended anyone…but they should know where their money is going.
 
Again…saying the Rosary is FREE.
The Patriotic Rosary prayer is available FOR FREE on the website.
No one is giving any money.
Medjugorje is an unapproved revelation and we don’t discuss it here, nor would I advocate anyone giving any money to any group pushing an unapproved revelation.
You are way off topic of the thread as no one was discussing giving any money to the Caritas group, or discussing Caritas at all, till you showed up and posted walls of text about it.
