A person will not be given more hardship than they can handle?

I can’t recall where I’ve heard this, but can someone tell me if is it a common saying or belief that no one will experience any more troubles or difficulties in their lives than they, with Gods help, will be able to bear?

It’s more than common saying, it’s scriptural, so whether you knew it or not you did come to the right part of the forum - from St Paul:

“May no temptation take hold of you but such as man is equal to. God is faithful and will not permit you to be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also give you a way out that you may be able to bear it.” (I Corinthians 10:13)

Seems to fit what you were saying, if for ‘troubles or difficulties’ you read ‘temptation’ - which is certainly a trouble or difficulty in my books!

Yeah, if He’d ask me my opinion before He saddled me with a burden, life would be a lot easier for me.

I always say he thinks im stronger than i am. Then after the suffering is over i figured it out. he was making me stronger and when i suffer i am closer to him. That helps. Father told me one day and this is the most beautiful thing i ever heard. God has his own unique way of choosing us to share in his pain of carrying the cross. He gives us all a different way of suffering, Now that helps ALOT.

Not humans, humans PLUS God’s grace ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ as St Paul said.

Thank you for your answers, and other comments. I love this forum! The whole tone of it, and how people can both joke and be serious.

LilyM, it does make more sense when using the word Temptation, like you wrote. I’ll definately remember that next time I’m tempted, and try not to give in because I feel ‘I can’t, just CAN’T resist, so it’s really not my fault’, as I tend to excuse myself with sometimes.
