I had a rather pleasant conversation yesterday with a woman at the local Parish yesterday.
She actually had not heard about the shrine desecration incident in Colorado until I mentioned it to her, and she asked me “Is it possible it was people dressed up as Mormon Missionaries to make them look bad?”
What a refreshing attitude!
Yet, sadly of course the answer is “No, they were real.” (* See note below.)
She responded “That is so unlike Mormons.”
She was so nice, so unassuming, and didn’t talk down to me.
Any person or religion with a claim to Christianity needs to be this way.
We get along here.
A good example -after an earthquake in February in Wells, Nevada, members from both faiths, as well as others, organized a debris clean up and some minor repairs on various structures, depending on the expertise of the people involved. Mormons did help with some roof repair on the local Catholic Church- not sure if it was minor or major in nature, but I always like things like this, people coming together-because it’s the way all of God’s children should be.

(* According to what I recall, there was an incident some years back, where some Jehovah’s Witnesses dressed up as Mormon missionaries and were vandalizing things and cussing at people, they were sued for fraud and ordered to cease and desist.)
