I was talking to someone today about coming back to the faith after 11 years of being AWOL and they asked what made me want to be Catholic (I converted in 1998). I told them that ever since I was a little girl I used to pray every night that God would make me a good girl and a Catholic! I used to pray that God would make me Catholic! I had totally forgotten about that. I always wanted to be a nun so I would ask God to please make me a Catholic so I could be a nun. Everyday I’d wake up a little disappointed because I wasn’t magically a Catholic but every single night I would ask much to the horror of my strict Lutheran Mother.

30 years later God answered my prayer and made me a Catholic. I don’t have a question. It was just the sudden realization TODAY that God heard my little girl’s heartfelt longing and made me a Catholic. When it dawned on me I sat here at work and tears just ran down my face in loving gratitude. I had a HORRIBLE childhood but all that time God was hearing my prayers…I wasn’t alone.

Thank you God and Blessed Mother…thank you for “Making me a Catholic”.
