A Prayer Intentions Notebook

One of the hardest things I do as part of daily prayer is list out all the prayer intentions. It is fine if you just have one or two, but my list tends to grow and grow. Sometimes I forget things, other things are really scary or hard to think about, and often it’s just mentally tiring coming up with the list every day. At the same time, I don’t want to be totally lazy and say “God take care of everything.”

I think I am going to start a Prayer Intentions Notebook, write down intentions a couple at a time when they come to me, and then just reference the whole notebook when I pray, for example, “This Rosary is offered for all the intentions in my notebook, and for the Poor Souls.” If a prayer was answered or resolved I could cross it out and put a “Thank You Jesus” in the margin.

Anybody else do something similar?

Not really, I just try to list the ones I can remember, and ask God to take care of my other intentions.

Your idea for a prayer intentions notebook sounds good though! 🙂

I do that. It is a hand sized little book. I even write down intentions from CAF. (Bear, your husband is in there. 🙂) I hold it in my hands at mass during the prayers of the faithful and add them when asked to include the prayers in the silence of our hearts. I put checks next to them when I hear they have been resolved or otherwise answered.

I started the book for the same reason you are asking. The list got so long in my head and I felt like I was forgetting people.

I keep it in my purse so I remember to take it in to mass with me.

I tend to rely on my memory. However, I do make a note in the “memo” section of this tablet, if it’s likely I’m not going to remember, and take a quick scan before leaving for Adoration. My time is tonight, and there’s about a dozen items in it so far. There will be about 30 or 40 requests, most of them in my head.

Not a bad idea Tbear,
I have a top ten list - on one of those boards with dry eraser pen -
If someone new goes on - someones removed -
I like it - when people come to my mind - and then pray on the spot.
