Shawn grew up in poverty and foster care and garnered every bad habit you can name.
He joined the army, became a combat medic served in Iraq and Afghanistan and received a purple heart.

He was honorably discharged and promptly returned to his bad habits. He has been living on the streets (sometimes my couch) ever since.

Now, for the third time in three years he has a full-time job and a place to stay. I am praying deeply that this time he makes it.

St. Camillus de Lellis was also a wounded veteran whose habits led him to a prolonged life of homelessness. Camillus eventually returned to the church, straightened his life out became a priest and devoted himself to helping the poor and the sick . He was declared patron of the sick, with St. John of God, by Pope Leo XIII, and patron of nurses and nursing groups by Pope Pius XI. (If there were a patron saint of homeless vets I’m sure Camillus would be named to that job as well).

Please say a prayer that Shawn find the strength to overcome his problems and stay off the streets for good this time.

“Think well. Speak well. Do well. These three things, through the mercy of God, will make a man go to Heaven.”
~Saint Camillus de Lellis

For your prayer request:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

God Bless You

Dear Lord, give Your Comfort to Shawn in his time of trial. Help him to find new confidence in his home and work. Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
