A priest is the only one who can excorcise demons from a human body

As time goes on unbelievers speak with one voice Legion, as with Babel. Which is the Mark of the Beast in its most basic form, secularism and atheism leading the pack.

People usually appear normal but sometimes God opens your ears to let you hear the doubletalk, just to remind you to keep faithful. So demon possession isn’t necessarily going to look like The Exorcist, it’s a subtle thing that sneaks up on the world.

Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

Luke 21:35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

MW - Interesting Blog!

What happened to your friend? I could not find the rest of the story.

Anyway, I, too, have read Fr. Amorth’s books. Very good. But basically, he says, the exorcism of demons and deliverance from evil influences also lie in the person’s faith. Timing of deliverance has more to do with their faith and God’s timing in it all.
Thank you DJgang.

I’m still working with him. It’s been six months now and we’re still dealing with many issues. Many wonder why it’s been so long and we haven’t been successful. Success so far has been temporary because there are lots of issues that I don’t disclose.

Many people want help on the surface and want to be rid of the effects of demons without being rid of the demons themselves (which sounds strange I know). As many other exorcists will tell you, the host MUST want to change, renounce their former life, confess their sins and seek to live a godly life. Some hosts simply won’t change their lives overnight from one of occult life and Satanism to Christianity.

Fr. Amorth is right. Faith is so important. You can’t just read the rite of exorcism and expect everything to happen. I know someone close to me that isn’t successful even using the rite because their lack of faith and fear are hindrances to the process.

One must have unshakeable faith and confidence that God will have the last say in the matter.

Valke, thanks for the info.

We should point out that there is a difference between being possessed and having a mental/emotional problem. There are those who claim that Jesus only treated mental problems and that there are no such things as possessed people.

I think that some denomination who deny the metaphysical have issues with this. It is almost like they like the faith of the printed word, but they are threatened by the living, moving kind. I am not sure why. It seems like many who deny possessions also deny miracles after the apostles or the Charismatic Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
You bring up a good point.

Exorcists must be careful in diagnosing possession as opposed to schizophrenia or any other mental issues. The Catholic Church is very systematic in its approach to declaring a person actually possessed. And, the person must undergo a mental evaluation to rule out mental health issues.

It goes to both extremes. I’ve seen some pentecostal folks go too far and declare that many people have demons and label them as emotions. Demon of lust, demon of fear, demon of this or that. It’s harmful to say the least to go around telling everyone they are possessed by demons because of emotions that normal humans have.

The other extreme is to say that out of 1,000 potential cases there may only be 1 true case of possession. Once mental evaluations have taken place a person must take into account the normal signs of possession and take a personal history of the person to get a sense of whether or not it is a true case of possession.

In my experience a person will know. I feel it. I can feel the presence once it manifests and the physical signs are rather easy to decipher. Father Malachi Martin describes his experiences and mine are similar. Not every case is the same, but there should be enough signs to be able to diagnose.

One way to get to the heart of it is through hypnosis. Once the conscious mind is out of the way the demon is bound to come through, without any prodding by me. Simply speak the name of Jesus and you can get a reaction if the demon is there.

erm I dont think hypnosis is a good idea.

Self control is a fruit of the spirit and ways of removing it are condemned (like being drunk.)

Why would it be good to get conciousness out of the way?

Off topic query: Valke2, are you familiar with *The Pasta Factory *on Palisade Ave. in Teaneck? GREAT Kosher restaurant (dairy). Come to think of it, if you’re not Kosher, why would you be?
This is an excellent question! Actually, I had heard very good things about it. Recently my mother in law died and someone sent a meal to my father-in-law and wife from there. I have to say it was disappointing. But I’m willing to give it another shot.
(I do keep Kosher).

I guess we got lucky. The salmon cakes were fantastic.

Hypnosis is a wonderful way to help someone. Many in the field of spirit release use hypnosis with their clients to free them from negative entities.

You don’t lack self-control in hypnosis. A person who is under hypnosis is still in control of their moral selves. They can hear, feel and even see. If a hypnotist gives them suggestions they don’t like or they feel in danger, they will either ignore the suggestions and/or immediately come out of the trance. There is no danger and it is not against God’s laws. Every person experiences hypnosis daily, especially right before sleep. Every time you daydream you are in a hypnotic trance. A detailed examination of hypnosis here would not be appropriate.

If the person is already possessed and you know that to be a fact, opening them to hypnosis isn’t any different than how they are out of hypnosis as far as being open to negative influences. What it does do is allow the person to be in an altered state of mind where they don’t physically experience the effects of having the demon exorcised. In other words, gross things happen to people who are conscious during the exorcism like losing bodily functions, sweating and other physiological things I won’t discuss.

I’m a certified hypnotist and know what to do and what not to do.

If you would like to know more about hypnosis, I can help you and/or direct you to relevant sites that discuss it. I’d be glad to.

You’re pretty cool, MW.

WHat made you try a kosher restaurant? Did you get tired of paying reasonable prices for food? 🙂
:rotfl: Yeah – there was a little sticker shock, but not bad considering the quality of the food. But it’s a BYO place so that helps. Our friend brought a kosher Australian shiraz. The world of Kosher has come a long way since the days of boiled flank and cholent.

Friends: student of my husband’s and his wife invited us.

Keeping to topic, exorcism – there’s an open flame cooking area right in the dining room that kept swooshing up and giving the impression we might be on the threshold of hell.

righteousone,

Are you surprised by the different opinions from your Catholic brothers and sisters? It seems you are the only Catholic on here that believes your premise.

Yea, it’s ok. I realize that some of these so called “Catholics”, don’t know much about their faith either. I stand steadfast and always will. I am a defender of my faith.

Has the thought ever occurred to you that your understanding could be the one that needs addressed? The Catholics who have shared their thoughts know their faith. For example, mercygate and even Father Amorth are devout Catholics who differ from you.

Well, what do they differ from me?

They believe protestants can exorcise demons. That not only a priest can exorcise them. Father Amorth is an official exorcist with the Church and disagrees with your premise that only a priest can do these things. If the official exorcist with YOUR church disagrees, then perhaps you should re-think your position.

Don’t you know that even a priest can be wrong? If he believes a Protestant can excorcise demons, he isn’t paying attention to what the vatican has to say about these things. The priests take a course specializing in excorcism, that is why Protestant ministers ask a priest to do the excorcism. I know this to be a fact.
Once I asked my priest what apostle was crucified upside down because I showed him my pictures of the prison cell I stood in in Rome a couple months ago, and he didn’t know. He assumed Paul when indeed it was Peter.
Furthermore, I noticed that a lot of non-Catholics on these threads try to pit Catholic against Catholic…sounds like you doesn’t it?

Yes, I do know. And I know that lay people can be wrong too. Don’t you? What does the Vatican say about these things? If Father Amorth is wrong and he publicly says that protestants doing it is okay, then why doesn’t the Vatican stop him? Lack of training on the part of protestants doesn’t mean they are incapable because of authority/power issues. It’s simply lack of training.

I’ve never asked a priest to perform one and don’t intend to. I do fine without one. No, it doesn’t sound like me. I have more to do with my time than pitting people against people. My intention is learning, understanding and mutual spiritual progression. It’s rather petty to waste my time trying to destroy Catholics. I seek to uplift them and see them progress also.

I love Catholics, protestants, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists and whatever other label you can put on people. My fight is with darkness and Satanism. My comrades are those who fight darkness with me, whoever they may be. That’s why I would work with anyone from any religion who fights darkness. I suggest you do the same.

You neither know me nor have the faintest clue about my intentions. You have no right to judge me.

Peace…

I think that the difference is between can and should. In my opinion, only a priest who is trained and ready SHOULD perform one. Only a person who is trained and ready SHOULD try. I can go up and say the words, and I will be in a world of hurt.
