By the way, thank you for your responses…I find this helpful.
Some Muslims adhere to hadith 4294 (book 19)…which seems at odds with what you are saying about ā€œno compulsion in religionā€. Perhaps when you have time later, you can help with this one.

Again, thank you for the answers.
Hello again,

Thank you for your kind words. ʾIn shāʾ Allāh, I’ll reply to your post this weekend.

May the Exalted bless you, and keep you close to Himself.

Holy Rollers? šŸ˜‰
An aside: I happen to know where that term, ā€œholy rollers,ā€ originated so thought I’d share:

In the early 1900’s, which is when ā€œPentecostalsā€ got their start…in the mountains of Appalachia, small churches were on mountainsides. At times, some of those attending would be ā€œin the Spiritā€ as they phrase it, to the point that they ended up rolling down the side of the mountain outside the building a short distance…

I was raised in a Pentecostal church til age 17, then went to the UMC with my wife prior to our converting to the RCC about 6 years ago. Plenty of Pentecostals in my family, and all from the deep dark hills of SE Kentucky…both of my parents were raised by coal miners down there, Mom on a farm, Dad in an actual coal camp. Point is, I know what i’m talking about here šŸ™‚

That’s really something! I’ve heard of folk ā€˜in the Spirit’ rolling down the aisle, but never down a hillside. Would love to have seen that. Thank you for sharing. I was raised a Baptist (and am also a former coal miner). We had a Pentecostal chapel nearby. We found them rather…boisterous! Happy memories, though.

I expect that ā€œboisterousā€ is being kind…

Glad to share. I imagine seeing one roll down a hill would have been quite a sight.

I still have a few relatives in the mines, Harlan County, KY. One cousin was killed couple years ago by a fault but he was running a continuous miner so I was unclear as to what actually happened, other than the ceiling caved on him. My papaw dug coal from age 14 which I reckon would have been in the 1940’s.
You said ā€œhappy memories,ā€ and I thank you for that because it made me think of my kin down in the hills now. Blessings,
