A problem with a friend

hi there, not sure if you can help me out

i have this friend who seems to be able to see spirits and such and travels outside her body when she sleeps. Its uncanny what she can tell about what we did exactly the night before…and how that weird things happen around her.

She’s starting to lose control and doesn’t know what to do. How do i advice her? she’s seeking advice from everywhere, like pagan societies, wicca…and such…She has a bad experience with the church as some church members previously branded her as unclean. I want to help her but am afraid.

Should i just leave her alone? i don’t think its right…but i really am lost in this … i feel that my spirit could be threatened, yet i really want to help her from becoming insane…

i know for a fact that she’s not insane, or a schizno…cause the things she says seem so true…and weird things just happen…weird…

hope that someone can help me out. thanks

I would suspect that if she is taking advice from wicca and pagan societies, her problems are only getting or going to get worse, because she is opening herself up to Satan (even if she doesn’t know it or intend to). I would say she may need an exorcism, but that is something only a good exorcist can determine.

How you go about this I am not exactly sure. It has to go through the Bishop, I know that.

Others will be better advised and give you better advice, about exorcism and also about other possible causes that may be more/less likely.

Pray a lot, though. That is a solution to any problem

thanks fer the quick reply…but a bishop? ok…i just go up to him and tell him this? what if he thinks i’m crazy?,…

I think that there maybe some mental issues involved here. Maybe talk to your friend about some therapy. And keep praying, this seriously might not be exorcism material here. This sort of thing sounds like it may have some underlying roots based on some events perhaps. I think it’s key not to feed into the supernatural aspects of the issue.

It’s dangerous to deal with the occult. It’s almost like inviting demonic activitity into our lives. The true story upon which the Exorist movie was based, involved the child using a Ouija board.

It is really creepy stuff and I think Wiccan and other occulists are playing with fire. It is all to easy for Satan to disguise himself as some long lost soul. How would anyone really know which is which ? Satan or his demons are not about to readily admit that they are not really the soul in question.

Scriptures tell us about true demonic possessions, Jesus and the Apostles cast out demons almost regularly.

Sometimes an apparition may be allowed to visit the living but such things are very rare and usually it is Our Lady or Christ Himself. If such an event should happen we should consult our pastor or local bishop to determine its veracity. Some determination has to made as to whether what the apparition proposes is consistent with scriptures.

It takes quite a long time for an apparition event to be verified, and I would not place much credence to such things unless it had full authority of the Church. There have been hoaxes uncovered before and the Church does everything it can to determine whether an event is real or myth.

Even if they are determined to be real, the faithful are not required to believe in the apparition. The Church only says they may be worthy of belief BUT not required. All of our beliefs are already set out in the Bible and the Chruch Councils and doctrines. wc

But, the Bishop would have the exorcist determine if this is a case of possession or of mental illness. They deal with this sort of thing all the time and so know the difference. If it is mental illness he will advise her to seek out a mental health provider because the Catholic Church recognizes that many of these cases are mental health issues and not possession. But, if it is possession, he will be able to help her with that problem.

I agree that the investigation would be prudent. I think given the limited info here he would lean in the direction of mental but there might be more. It sounds kind of new age attention seeking to me but thats all text based assumption.

You may want to talk to your Priest about it, and about contacting the Bishop. There may also be a way to contact the diocese (and the Bishop) directly. I really don’t know. Your Priest can probably tell you how it works.

If he is one of these liberal Priests who doesn’t believe in it, or if he’s not much help, you can always try to find another Priest, or contact the diocese.
