It implies that we can cause God pain. That our actions can change God. This seems contrary to the belief in an ominipotent being. To cause a being that is unlimited power pain seems contradictory.
Can God love?

Valke2, it sounds as if your definition of God is more akin to the Muslim Allah than the Judeo-Christian YHWH.

There are times when it is a literary device. But no christian that I know of denies Jesus suffering real pain.
Because Jesus was/is fully human (now with a glorified body sitting at the right hand of the Father) and fully Divine, it is called the hypostatic union.

We say we can make God happy or joyful. The literal of this is that we do God’s will.

We say that we cause God pain, sorrow or misery. The literal of this is that we go agains God’s will.
