Hope College in Holland, Michigan, has scuttled a student-proposed forum on sexuality that would have featured the participation of an openly homosexual Oscar-winning filmmaker.

STand-up for real Catholic colleges, not those whose leadership is more non-Christian than truly Catholic !!!

Hi Terry-

Thanks for the link. I wish my husband’s college (the University of San Francisco) would take an actual Catholic stand on one issue. The President seems intent on inviting and honoring speakers that disagree with the Church on every single hot button topic.

When I began my college search almost a decade ago I was Baptist. I noticed that the Protestant schools tended to have much stricter behavior codes and much higher standards in terms of moral behavior for the students. The Catholic Colleges I looked at (and the one I ended up at because of scholarship money- Saint Mary’s College of California) seemed to be Catholic only in name (although I know there are good Catholic schools out there like University of Dallas where my husband should have gone!- hindsight is 20/20 and we didn’t know nearly as much about it as we do now!).

It’s sad though that so many Catholic colleges just don’t seem to follow the Church’s teachings on anything! I keep getting “updates” from my alma mater and last weeks was about the Brother President going to the Gay and Lesbian associations meetings to hang out with everyone. Way to expect a lot from the students.

It’s nice to be reminded that there are schools, Catholic and otherwise, that take a stand.
