Thinking back to my first impression of the Catholic church was during catechism [12 yrs old] and the changes of Vatican II accepted by Lutherans [free-standing altar]. But the parishes and schools [LCMS] I attended would be comparable to Anglo Catholics so the difference with Roman Catholics wasn’t that significant. Catholics became very Lutheran-friendly and visa versa.

Blessed John XXIII 👍

Scott Hahn would be a good author to look up. He was a former evangelical pastor who is now a powerhouse voice in the laity of the Catholic Church. He might be able to bridge the gaps you still struggle with crossing. The important thing is that you don’t feel rushed. Don’t move beyond what you are ready for. Trust that the Holy Spirit is guiding you. Once I started reading up on Catholicism (primarily using this site), I found that I couldn’t deny Christ’s Truth anymore. I am Catholic now and have been since the Easter Vigil in 2012. I am still hungry to learn more and more. It is a remarkable journey and I will pray for you to respond to the Lord’s call! You couldn’t have picked a better place to find answers though. I credit this site in large part for my conversion.
