They are not the same thing. Thank you for drawing the distinction! The first (“working for God”) is subjective; the second (“doing God’s work”) is objective. The first pertains to works of virtue; the second pertains to carrying out the works of the Church (as those things dictate by Revelation [Deut.32:4] and corporal works of mercy). The first are dictated by prudence; the second are dictated by the Catechism! That is not to say that they are in conflict; but the first include works of conscience, while the second supervene upon works of conscience.
