When a woman is getting married with a man, should she just look at how much money he makes? Also, when a man is getting married with a woman, should he just look at how beautiful she is?

No and No. That’s the short answer. lol:)

A man should marry a woman who puts God first above all else, and a woman should marry a man who puts God first above all else. I also think physical attraction and being financially stable are good things to look for in mates, but those things are fleeting. Putting God first, is a trait that is most attractive in a potential spouse. While we typically are attracted to someone at first or second glance, again, in time, that will be fleeting. A person must also be beautiful inside.

Women can also make their own money. I don’t ‘need’ my husband to support me financially, although he can. But, I think it’s important for a woman to marry someone who is responsible with money, and has a history of holding down a stable job, with good income. For example, a man who refuses to work, or a man who keeps jumping from job to job, etc…would raise a red flag for me, personally. Hope my answers help.

Are you seriously asking those questions? Seriously?

I would make sure my potential husband can support himself and isn’t in some sort of financial trouble that I would be getting into. I wouldn’t want to deal with that and I wouldn’t want to support someone. But other than that who cares. I am use to living iwth next to nothing so his bank account is not my concern.

As as far as beauty…you need to be physically attracted to your mate but if she isn’t what the public media has determined is beautiful yet you are attracted to her then what’s the problem.

What’s the real problem? The way it looks, it seems there’s something on your mind…

Both money and beauty can be lost in the blink of an eye. Marriage is about fidelity, commitment and character.

Marriage has nothing to do with money or good looks. Love …IS A CHOICE… Every marriage has it’s problems. It is the WILL that gets you through the hard times. Looks don’t last and if they do it may because priorities are out of sink with what God wants. Fedelity is with God and with a spouse. No justification for a man to seek looks elsewhere or a woman to find security in another because of the lack of cash flow. If this is what your relationship is based on…then run.

Yes and yes if you are of the world and all you want is a ‘sugar daddy’ or ‘trophy wife’.

If you both truly love each other and put God first in your marriage you will always be truly rich and she will always be beautiful to you.

And that’s all that really matters.

Uhm are we talking like in serious here??? I thought people married for love? Am I living in a different century?? Because sometimes I wonder about that too…I mean my mother married my father because he was wealthy like her family WAS…USED TO BE… until her father passed away and her 19 siblings used up all their wealth…

My sister married because her hubby had a really gooooood job enough to support her wonderful GUCCI and DOONEY AND BURKE FETISH…

I am in love with this poor man, I am poor myself…IS THIS WRONG?

My family thought that because I was a semi professional, that I would be interested in getting a man with lots of security…that’s what they told me…Am I in the wrong for this? Seriously? Should I not want to be with someone I love just because I need financial security to be “happy” like my mother and sister are with men that can support them without any problems?

I mean I struggle and will continue struggling with my db when we get married, and this is one of the reasons for my whole fear about uhm you know, having more children since I can barely afford the ones I all ready have?! 😦

Money and beauty? Hmmmmmm. Can’t have too much of either of those commodities. LOL.

I’m sorry but I have a natural negative reaction to leading questions.

Do you not already know what your answer to these questions are?

I’ll repeat what kage_ar said:

If all you can see in a potential spouse is either physical beauty or lots of money - don’t do it.

Pick someone that you want to live with for the rest of your life. Someone who you will be *happy *to care for if some accident puts them into a wheelchair, or a “permanent vegetative state.” Someone with whom you will pull in harness if all the “down side” of the vows happen: for worse, for poorer, in sickness.

If you can’t do that, then you’re not ready to get married yet.

Blessings,

Ruthie

Go hang out with their mother or father and see if you like them and if you think you could grow old together in the end with someone like their parents.

Sounds to me like you have a thing for a hot lady who is marrying a rich guy who you think doesn’t deserve her.

Who is she man?

That would be what we call shallow. And no sacrament can be based on money or (fleeting, subjective) beauty alone.

Now, I think any woman should be sure a guy can support a family before she marries him, and especially a woman who is dedicated to staying home to raise her children. (Or vice-versa for a man who wants to be a stay-at-home dad.) And I also think physical attraction to one another is a vital and necessary part of marriage. In order to renew the sacrament and the couple’s bond and commitment through sexual intercourse, it helps if one is “hot” for their spouse. It’s not loving and bonding if done only out of duty.
