A Question about Mortal Sin

If I were heavily depressed, anxious, and/or very tired, does that negate or lessen the ‘full consent of the will’ necessary for a mortal sin? I’m asking because something happened this morning that I would not have done if I were in control of all my senses. My grandfather is fighting for his life, my best friend and I haven’t spoken in a month, and I was fatigued. I also want to add that I didn’t do anything that I /know/ is grave…it was in a roleplay format, so essentially, it was all fake anyway.

Help would be very much appreciated. I think I committed a venial sin, as I cut the roleplay short and then promptly fell asleep for most of the day.

If you didn’t have complete knowledge then that removes one of the “strikes”.

And yes it is said that anxiety can lessen culpability…

Complicating factors can include:

* Physical force or other strong coercion
* Great fear or anxiety
* Extreme fatigue
* Hidden or deep-seated emotional wounds
* Long-established habits

Okay, will do! I try to remind myself that I will know if I commit a mortal sin, but sometimes I lose my peace before Sunday and am unsure…although the uncertainty should tell me that a sin is venial.
