In the block universe time is only a static variable which allows to accommodate any state of universe.What meaning does that really have. We only speak of time because we witness change and would never have comprehended the concept of time apart from that fact.

The block universe is static from a 4d perspective. For those with a 3 dimensional perspective within it, time is experienced. I only repeat because you keep reverting to the 4d perspective and enying the 3d.

Yes, that is right. Usually it is called spacetime.If by a block universe one is arguing that the past present and future exist all at once, then to me the logical consequences is that there is no change and no coherent concept of time apart from a logical ordering of distinct points. To me it’s much like saying that there is only space, no time, just coordinates on a map.
The Block universe is a descriptive term. If you string a series of 3d blocks- the moments in spacetime- you get a bigger block. That is grasped more easily than a series of spheres, for example.
The change in perspective mentioned is the difference between seeing 3 dimensions with the 4th experienced as time versus seeing all 4 dimensions simultaneously. It is not a shift in place, but an augmentation of seeing.

Like i said, distinct points on a map, that are not a procession of potential states, does not involve a coherent concept of time. A static universe is just an object with varying distinctions in it. What need is there to speak of time. It’s a pointless label if you are not referring to the fact of change. It would be more coherent to say there is no time in a static universe, but that is not the universe we experience.

If this 3d cube is red at time A, and green at time B, how is that not dynamic. If you view it from 4d, it looks like static boxes side by side. If you are within the box, it is a dynamic everything is red turns green.

Have you ever seen a timeline. At 0 the universe is created, at 1776 the American colonies secede from the British Empire, in 1893 Chicago hosts a world fair. Is such a thing dynamic or static? Is time irrelevant to it?

Unless the universe moves through time with you. To experience a year, the earth moves through space. We can move within the earth’s field without experiencing the change of the earth through space.Time appears to change if you can move along time axis in the block universe but for that you need to move.
