A question about the scapular medal

I’ve been wearing the brown scapular for quite a while but now I’m needing to switch to wearing the scapular medal. My mom is really allergic to wool and apparently I’m developing an allergy too. I know you don’t have to be invested in the scapular again but do you need to have anything else done with the medal before you start wearing it instead of the wool scapular?

No you can just switch. Also there is a stainless steel double medal scapular available which will not corrode.

If it’s strictly that wool is an issue, any other brown cloth is fine.

That is true that cloth other than wool can be used now.

As for switching (as someone else mentioned) I may be wrong, but when switching from cloth to medal the medal needs a blessing, as any other sacramental.

I don’t have the information before me right now…so if someone knows better please correct about the medal.
