This is sort of awkward to ask…but i was watching Audrey Hepburn’s “The Nun’s Story” and this question popped into my mind…

I know sisters take a vow of chasity, but what would happen if some horrible person would rape her, like just kidnap her, she had no control over it. Would this be against her vows?

Please help!

No, it would not, just as a married woman who is raped does not commit adultery, as she had no choice in the matter.

There are several “purity martyrs’” causes before Rome right now. These women were all raped and murdered.

Blessings,

We had a story in a Catholic newspaper or magazine (cant recall which) quite a few years ago now about a young missionary nun who had been raped and became pregnant - she left the Order to mother and raise her child. It was a truly heartrending story of the agony she went through in making that decision…and one of absoute heroism and total unselfishness…there was no follow up that I know of anyway of her story.
