A Question for Anglicans

As a scholar one of my favorite saints is Thomas More and I am curious as to why Anglicans honor him. Why would the church that seemingly executed him make him a saint? I am not interested in a Catholic vs. Protestant debate, that is not my intention at all. One of my hopes in asking this is that I am not offending anyone, particularly with my a postulation of the Anglican church executing him; I know that the Anglican church is a positive force in the world and we are all siblings in Christ here. Also, I am familiar with the historical events relating to this matter (Henry, Cranmer, the execution which occurred on July 6, etc.), as I have studied them for a long time now. Of particular interest to me is why More was made a saint and when? This question is more academic than spiritual and any (name removed by moderator)ut would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Check the CoE Calendar. You’ll find John Henry Newman, but not that other Henry.
