A question for Atheists.

Do the atheists on this forum actually agree with the points that this author states? They are:

• It’s like we’re on a crusade for a new religion.
• …atheists are attempting to ram their beliefs down other people’s throats. Maybe they are, but so what?
• atheists zealously embraced the project of converting the masses.
• Atheists, at least most of us, would be happy to see the faithful lose their religion.

I would say that article speaks for the author’s feelings, even though there in most universities that are big in sciences, there is an implicit push towards atheism.

I’ve known atheists though that don’t try to convert others, and seem perfectly happy and peaceful not having to make other feel inferior for their beliefs.

Militant Atheism is a cry of wrath. They not only want to blot out the Cross of Christ from history, they want to destroy all truth of God in other religions as well.

I’d like to give my own thoughts on these points but I of course can’t speak for everyone.

Some non-believers do go pretty far but I think it’s by and large a very small minority.

I think this is more of a reaction to having religion rammed down their throats also. It’s really a 2-way street here. I’ve met several theists, including several family members, that have tried to convert me over and over again. After a while I started to actually get some thoughts together about the subject and really think about why I thought the way I did. Then suddenly after I put up an argument the burden of proof was on me for some reason even though I never brought it up in the first place, which of course is silly because you can’t prove it one way or the other.

Atheists, at least most of us, would be happy to see the faithful lose their religion.

I really don’t care one way or another to be honest. People can believe what they want to believe even if I happen to completely disagree with it. The only real problem I have is when theistic ideology impacts my life such as with prayer in schools, restricting sex education to only include abstinence, creation “science” in schools, Roe vs. Wade (I’m not female but huge impact on society either way), etc.
