A question for Protestants and other faiths

I am curious as to why you would join a Catholic forum.
Don’t get me wrong here as I mean no disrespect. I, personally, love hearing viewpoints and opinions from all faiths. When we debate about our faiths, we not only educate ourselves but we educate others as well. Education is always a good thing

So why did you join a Catholic forum?

As a Lutheran I am interested in my Catholic roots. I am also committed to Lutheran/Catholic dialogue and this forum is a place to become better acquainted with Catholicism. That said, I do a good bit of reading about Catholicism, so the discussions here are not the only information I get.

And, there are some very fine people here to engage in discussions with.

Do you mean your personal roots to Catholicism or those of your denomination? If you don’t mind clarifying a bit.

I am also committed to Lutheran/Catholic dialogue and this forum is a place to become better acquainted with Catholicism.

An excellent point of view to come to these forums as a non-Catholic.

Much better than, “I come to save your souls…” Doesn’t leave a lot of room for open discussion.

Awesome!! I have a friend who is Lutheran who says that the Lutheran faith is very similar to the Catholic faith.

I joined a while back under ChristianKnight to learn about the “true” church that people told me was founded by Jesus Christ. I am still here, my affiliation is no longer Christian, I am under the religion of Me, where I believe what I believe, and choose not to tell anyone so they don’t want to say “oh he is a dirty atheist” or “he is a satan worshipper” and such and such. I do believen a higher power, and do not worship anything, I meditate, and so then they will say I am probably Agnostic, so hence, I have to be grouped or people kinda lose their minds that I do not have a affiliation.

Thank you for your post. Though you and I may differ on our beliefs, it is still nice to learn about each other. I have a friend who also believes in a higher power (not God) but does not worship anything. He is totally against organized religion as well.

I am not against organized religion. I am against any religion that would like to take over my country and become its national religion and rule it like their religion has for years on other countries, cause then America wouldn’t be free, it’d be a nation of people who persecute others for not having the same beliefs, and they could use the legal force to also persecute others, and while I am breathing, that will never happen.

I joined because I married a Catholic and wanted to learn more about the Church and to determine whether or not I might want to become a member myself. Although I went through a few months of RCIA and go to Mass with my wife every week, I am still trying to make that determination.

I’m a big liturgy junkie, and have an especial fondness for the Tridentine Mass, which is what I miss most since becoming an Anglican. (The only Anglican church I know of that uses the traditional Roman rite in its entirety is in Philadelphia).

All religions try to take over, and expand their power, no matter if they say they don’t or not. Most are calm about it and let the powers of now be forevor. The RCC has tried before, but they quit, and now they just spread their power by converting, and that is fine as long as no Catholic government member tries to change the constitution cause the pope or anythone wants him too. I am mroe worried about Scientology then the RCC at the moment.

Why not? There are many Catholics in Protestant forums.
