Hi

(John 6: 40) Indeed, this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks upon the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life. Him I will raise up on the last day.)

Protestants, Jesus states that his Father, wants ALL to look upon HIM, and those who look upon his Son and Believes in Him, shall have eternal life and He will raise him up on the Last day.

Protestants have you looked upon Jesus today?

Or was the Father speaking to only those people who were alive when the people could actually see His Son Jesus Christ and believe in Him? …If this is true, then God Father was only speaking to those people that were alive when Jesus Christ was alive, for only they could have LOOKED UPON HIM, BELIEVE AND BE SAVED!

Then what about US, we who were born after Jesus Christ, those of us who never looked upon him, this will only mean that we all be damned.

But the Power of God Lets us SEE His Son Jesus Christ, today and BELIEVE in HIM, every day 24/7 and that is the EUCHARIST. Amen. The Body and Blood Soul and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ Truely Present. AMEN.

Protestants, DON’T ARGUE WITH ME about (John 6: 40) it is The FATHER’S WILL that all who LOOK UPON His Son Jesus Christ and BELIEVE, SHALL BE RAISED ON THE LAST DAY.

Protestants, Again, I ask you, have you seen Jesus Christ today the way God The Father wants us ALL to LOOK UPON HIM and BELIEVE?

If you have not looked upon Jesus Christ, You Can! But looking upon the Eucharist IS NOT ENOUGH, you Must also BELIEVE in the EUCHARIST that it is truly 100% His Son, for the Father said you Must Believe.

God Bless you all on your journey Home

I do.

God bless you as well,

Here is another scripture to support the OP’s:

John 8:28
So Jesus said (to them), **"When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM, **

Jesus is lifted up at every Eucharistic Mass celebration, and all who believe in him are given eteranal life, that he is the “I AM”, and we are all drawn to him, for it is the Father’s will. That all come to him, whom he has chosen, so that not one will be lost. For God makes his dwelling among the human race.

The fulfillment of the prophecy of the prophet Malachi is revealed at Mass

Malachi 1:11
For from the rising of the sun, even to its setting, my name is great among the nations; And everywhere they bring sacrifice to my name, and a pure offering; For great is my name among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.

Peace be with you

Wow…
I don’t believe that I’ve looked at this verse in that particular light. Very, very nice. Gave me chills, really.

I’m stunned by what God has done. Stunned.

While I would agree that the Eucharist/Holy Communion is one of the means that God uses to strengthen Christians in their faith and deliver the forgiveness of sins to them, it is not the only way and probably not what Jesus has in mind here. Looking upon the Son is communicated to us through His Word, Baptism, and the Supper. His being lifted up is a reference only to His sacrifice on the cross.

Hi Colos,

The Chills that you feel is the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT! AMEN…

I too felt the Chills or I should say the Holy Spirit when I read (John 6: 40) It was the Holy Spirit who wants us all to know this TRUTH!

TriuneUnity,

Who are you to say that: “probably not what Jesus had in mind here.”

Triune, you are not sure, for you use the word “Probably” If you are not sure, then don’t say a word, this is what protestanism does, they put their own “Probablys” on Scripture. Don’t put words into Jesus’s mouth that He “PROBABLY DID NOT HAVE THAT IN MIND”.

When he says it so plainly that even a child can understand it.

Who are we to believe You, or (John 6: 40) Where Jesus says it so plainly, that His Father wants us all to SEE Him and BELIEVE, that we may have eternal life, and that is the EUCHARIST! AMEN

I do not believe in your “Probably” I believe in what Jesus said so plainly in (John 6: 40)

God Bless you on you journey home

Thanks for making me laugh!

😃
Rather than Laugh, thank the Lord for (John 6: 40) The only way we ALL can SEE our Lord and BELIEVE in Him today, is through the Most Holy Euchharist.

By your laughing is that how you explain (John 6: 40)?

Those who actually saw Jesus were truly blessed. But it is not necessary to physically see Jesus to believe. Jesus tells us that those who believe without seeing Him are even more blessed.
Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”
(John 20:29 RSV)
Jesus also tells us that after the Holy Spirit comes we would see Him no more.
Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convince the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
(John 16:7-11 RSV)
It is not necessary to see Jesus to believe. Hebrews tells us that faith is the conviction of things not seen.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
(Hebrews 11:1 RSV)
I would also note that Augustine says that Jesus did not intend us to be able to look upon Him in the future.
Although, therefore, the Lord wrought many visible miracles in order that faith might sprout at first and be fed by infant nourishment, and grow to its full strength by and by out of this softness (for as faith becomes stronger the less does it seek such help); He nevertheless wished us to wait quietly, without visible inducements, for the promised hope, in order that “the just might live by faith;” and so great was this wish of His, that though He rose from the dead the third day, He did not desire to remain among men, but, after leaving a proof of his resurrection by showing Himself in the flesh to those whom He deigned to have for His witnesses of this event, He ascended into heaven, withdrawing Himself thus from their sight, and conferring no such thing on the flesh of any one of them as He had displayed in His own flesh, in order that they too “might live by faith,” and in the present world might wait in patience and without visible inducements for the reward of that righteousness in which men live by faith,-a reward which should hereafter be visibly and openly bestowed…
-Augustine (On Merit and the Forgiveness of Sins, and the Baptism of Infants, Book 2 Chapter 52)
newadvent.org/fathers/15012.htm

Augustine also dealt specifically with John 6:40.
He has said two things: “This is the work of God that you should believe in the one whom he has sent” while here he added, “whoever sees and believes.” The Jews saw but did not believe; they had the one condition but not the other. How could they attain eternal life without the other? The reason those who saw did not attain eternal life was because they did not also believe. If so, what about us who have believed but have not seen? If it is those two things that earn eternal life, seeing and believing-and whoever is lacking one of them cannot attain to the reward of eternal life-what are we to do? The Jews [who saw him] lacked the one; we the other. They had seeing but lacked believing. We have believing but lack seeing. Well, as regards our having believing and lacking seeing, we have prophetically been declared blessed by the Lord himself just as Thomas, one of the Twelve, was blessed when he felt his scars by touching them. -Augustine, Sermon 14A, Joel C. Elowsky, ed., Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture, New Testament IVa John 1-10, (Downers Grove: InterVarsity Press, 2006), p. 229.)

Considering he didn’t use the Word Eucharist in that passage, the “probably” that you harped on is closer to “not at all” what he had on his mind.

And don’t use caps, it’s rude 🙂

We can not see Jesus in Eucharist, yet we Believe he is present, that is how
we are Blessed.

Yes this scripture reflects the cross, but it is written in the present tense, not the past tense. Had Jesus only meant it to be only the first century cross, he would have said, when you have LIFTED the son of man, then you will realize that I AM.

The body, blood, soul and divinity is still be lifted up in the sacrifice of the Mass eternally present for all ages to see him who died for you.

The Eucharist is the eternal sacrifice being offered to God by Jesus. For the crucifixion sacrifice was made once and for all on earth by Jesus body, blood, soul and divinity in time. The Eucharist is the true body, blood soul and divinity of Jesus Christ being offered daily as a sacrifice for our sins eternallly present for all ages past, present and future.

So when scripture refers to the sacrificial cross it also reflects the Eucharist, because Jesus instituted the body and blood offering at the last supper in the Eucharist when he began his road to calvary.

Peace.

There is a connection, certainly. Since none of us were present, in time, 2000 years ago…the saving grace of Christ’s perfect life, and atoning death, as our substitute, cannot be communicated to us from the cross. It is communicated to us through the proclamation of the Word, the Lord’s Supper, and Holy Baptism. I think Fr. Corapi once explained that once very well, by saying the sacraments are like a baseball hurled through time to bring the grace of 2000 years ago to us, today.

However, the passages directly do not address the Eucharist as is being presented in this thread.

As far as the sacrificial nature of the Sacrament, that is where we part ways. It is not Christ being offered, it is Christ coming down to us, to impart His Body and Blood to us for our forgiveness. Wholly the work of God.

So, you seem to be saying that only people who receive the Eucharist through the RCC can be saved. Is that right?

Ridiculous I say. No loving god would be that exclusive.

No, He didn’t intend it to be limited to the 1st century cross; on that we agree. But to say he here refers to the Eucharist as opposed to solely the action of His being crucified is stretching to text into deep eisegetical territory. He here refers to the cross; His Supper, however, promises to give us the graces He won on the cross for us; He specifies this more clearly in the institution passages.
