A question from a former non-Catholic, for non-Catholics...

A question for non-Catholics: Let’s assume that the non-Catholic position is correct regarding the notion that the Catholic Church cannot teach infallibly (in a non erroneous manner) - regarding the teachings of Jesus Christ, and cannot infallibly (in a non erroneous manner) - interpret sacred scripture. Where could one go to find a church that does claim to teach error free doctrine regarding the teachings of Jesus, and does claim to interpret sacred scripture in a non erroneous manner - in other words - infallibly?

I believe that most non Catholics believe it is up to personal interpretation. But obviously their interpretation is the true one.

While I can respect that, I do not agree with it.
 
Jesus Wept, one does not have to be infallible to understand that.
 
I’m not clear where you are going here :confused:
Everyone and every Church has interpretations that are subject to refutation by other churches.

Wisconcin Synod Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS) claims this.
So does the Southern Baptist Convention.
So did the Conservative Baptist church I attended awhile back.
So do the Mormon missionaries who knock on my door.
So do the Jehovah’s Witnesses who knock on my door.

I no longer even worry about such questions - I’ll let the churches squabble about matters of doctrine and dogma and who’s the One True Church and who has God on his side. I have enough to do just trying to follow the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule.

The OP asked for another church which made the same claim. Mind you I’ll grant the Catholic church has more stuff than the Orthodox church, whether that’s truth is debatable.

Why? Jesus said Simon was the rock, he didn’t say Rome was the rock. Certainly both Churches claim Peter as their own.😉

Whoever said that Rome was the rock? :confused: I thought that the EOC believes that Jesus’ statement "You are peter and upon this Rock I will build my Church - was not referring to Simon re-named Kepha, but either his confession or Jesus Himself? :confused:

No, the two common interpretations are that it was Simon himself or his faith, I’ve never heard that it was Jesus, although Jesus is the cornerstone.
 
For the OP - from a Catholic returning from 26 years in Protestant (Evangelical, Baptist, Non-denom) churches: There is nowhere to go. They all claim everybody else (especially the Catholic Church) is wrong. But if you really want to give it a shot, I hear there’s about 33,000 denominations to ask. 😉

The Holy Spirit, who lives in the heart of every Christian, is the only source for truth:

Hebrews 10:14-16
because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. ** I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”*

I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it in the Holy Spirit.

I don’t think any “church” has the whole infallible truth. I think we each have to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit to the best of our ability and understanding. We may rely on a church or on other Christians for advice and counsel. In the end we will be judged according to our own hearts, and the sincerity of our pursuit to be led by the Holy Spirit.

Nowhere. Such a church doesn’t have to, and probably doesn’t , exist. You’ll just have to live with the fact the nobody can guarantee that their answers are the correct ones.
 
Hi there. The Bible reveals a people as His ‘remnant’ church who “keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus.” (Revelation 12:17; 14:12.) This remnant is the final church of Revealtion 3:14-22, the **repentant **Laodicean church. Note that this church wasn’t rebuked for teaching error, but rather for what they did with it. They were asleep, content, and only lukewarm. It is this church that God tells us will be the special target of Satan’s malignant and hate filled attacks in these last days. (Revelation 12:17)
The search for truth has been going on for millenia, and God is certainly able and willing to provide it to those who do search with sincerity and full surrender. I have written a long article on the historical existence of a people God had always preserved who held the truth.
