So you can masturbate then go to confession?

How do you confess that? I am serious. When it has to deal with a sexual act I find it hard to discuss with a priest. i find it hard to discuss with anyone.
Confessing this sin for me never gets easier. And being a woman besides.:blushing: It depends a lot on the priest, and how understanding he is about sexual sins.

God doesn’t condemn us to hell at all. We do…
What would be worse - masturbation or cheating on one’s spouse? Are they equal? How about for those who have passed the age of 50 and find themselves being ignored by their spouse?

The situation is more common than anyone would realize. Heck, even YOUNG married men find themselves ignored by their spouses, if we are to believe Tiger Woods.

I have to believe there are also women who, for some reason or another, are ignored by their husbands after 20 - 25 years of marriage. There also may be YOUNG women being ignored by their spouses.

Only cheating on one’s spouse breaks up families and destroys the sanctity of marriage. Nobody but God knows about the other. So, are people going to Hell anyway if they are merely trying to avoid cheating? :o

I can’t seem to find an answer to a question I have. The question is this: if a priest were to masturbate, does he go to confession like everyone else or does his vow/promise of celibacy require more than a simple confession? I know, it seems like a dumb question but I am just wondering.
Well, I think it is a dumb question indeed, totally hypothetical and a thread for voyeurs. Instead of posing the question here, why not get a notepad and pen and go knock on a few presbytry doors and find out for yourself.

This question is so presumptuous it is deceitful.

Both cheating on one’s spouse and masturbation are serious sins (when the three requirements are met). There are not degrees of mortal sins, so they are equally bad. From your example, both are a misuse of the sexual function which is what makes them grave matter.

Besides both sins could be seen as one and the same when speaking of a priest - he is committing impurity and cheating on his spouse the Church.

Priests have to go to confession just like everyone else.

Although I highly doubt it was for anything serious. Pope John Paul II was said to have reconciliation everyday. I think even several times a day.

Of course I assume there was a Priest with him regularly that he trusted. So he probably just turned to him, asked to hear his confession, did a face to face confession and moved on.
