Can someone document for me the Early Church Fathers’ agreement with the RCC doctrine on Purgatory?
Are we to assume those fathers who remain silent on the issue must have also had such a belief? I see no reason to, and if Augustine is the lynchpin in the doctrine of Purgatory, why doesn’t the Roman Catholic Church teach predestination as Augustine did?Regardless of the acceptance of the specific word Purgatory, that doesn’t mean it isn’t accepted as a belief. This is very different from rejecting the belief in purification after death, which every Christian must accept since there is no alternative.
The alternative is to deny sin as evil.
Is there another logical explanation which doesn’t insult the divinity of God and the requirement that you must be perfect to enter Heaven?
If one has one, please let me know.

Will you accept the bibilical statement that when He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Father (Heb 1:3), in lieu of a logical explanation?Regardless of the acceptance of the specific word Purgatory, that doesn’t mean it isn’t accepted as a belief. I don’t see how that has to do with the discussion of purgatory. Are you trying to imply that since Christ sat down at the righ hand of the Father after He sacrificed Himself for our sins then that means there must not be purgatory? That does not follow. With that logic you would have to conlude that all people are perfect from baptism. Which I hope you don’t say since all have sinned since their baptism. Purification is a process. Most people don’t die perfect and pure. Therefore they must be made pure in one way or another. Purgatory is an explanaition. Will you accept the bibilical statement that when He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Father (Heb 1:3), in lieu of a logical explanation?
Amen I believe the Bible 100%.Will you accept the bibilical statement that when He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Father (Heb 1:3), in lieu of a logical explanation?
What belief are you “just making up?”Amen I believe the Bible 100%.
But this is not an explanation, just a statement that Jesus has made a purification for our sins which I believe 100% and as a Catholic believe this applies to every sin we commit.
Does this apply to sins before\after they are committed? Do we need to repent? You see it states that Jesus has made purification for our sins which is 100% Catholic belief but do we need to accept it and repent?
I don’t have to throw out logic to be Christian, unless I can just make up belief.

None, every belief must be affirming truth, which is logically consistant. What belief are you “just making up?”
Your statement and your point are ridiculous.None, every belief must be affirming truth, which is logically consistant.
Which was my point.
I unbelieve in purgatory. Now do you have a consistant explanation toward an unbelief in the existence of Purgatory or just a similar belief that is not called Purgatory.
Hebrews 1:3
There is nothing I can add to that FACT.…He [God] had made purification of sins…
Look. God made purification for our sins. OK. Everyone here believes that. Now either one of two things follows.Hebrews 1:3
…He [God] had made purification of sins…
]There is nothing I can add to that FACT.
Ok so your unbelief by your own admission is based on opinion. I believe based upon fact which I conform my life to.Your statement and your point are ridiculous.
My statement concerning your statement, and your point are logically consistent, and it may, or may not affirm truth; nevertheless, it is still my belief; belief is not necessarily based on truth, nor does it necessarily affirm truth, but it is based on opinion, and that includes your opinions, and your beliefs as well.
I unbelieve in purgatory.
My unbelief in purgatory is found in the opinion of the writer of Hebrews; said opinion is the inspired truth of God:There is nothing I can add to that FACT.
I disagree.Look. God made purification for our sins. OK. Everyone here believes that. Now either one of two things follows.
- You are pure. If so, great. Good for you. No purification remains to be accomplished in you (by Christ). You can happily bypass purgatory and go straight to heaven.
- You are not yet pure. Consequently, the purification that God made for you still needs to be worked out in you in full. If it happens to you before death, again, good for you. If not, then it will happen after death, presuming you are saved. That’s purgatory. You don’t like the word…call it something else. Whatever.
And the church would disagree with you. While Catholics should make it clear that our belief is in Jesus Christ, not in what we could ever do on our own, we also believe that it is His plan that we cooperate with Him… from pro-creation to salvation.I disagree.
The way I see It is HE DID.
So there is no question as to whether or not the believe is pure; HE IS.
It is a matter of faith.
