A question regarding blood

There’s nothing in the OT that even hints at partaking of the Messiah’s Body, either. So what.

There is hints at the value of the blood, and I believe I posted it. When the OT teaches that the life of a creature is in it’s blood, and Jesus teaches that we are to share in His Life, the conclusion is crystal clear

Hi,
for me it is a little different.

To share ones bread means share in what they have.
To drink from ones cup means to share in his blessing.

Jesus (PBWH) said i am giving my body (the bread of life) and my blood (the eternal blessing) for you.
Now do the same in memory of me.

At mass we offer ourselves to be one in the same offering.
We then share in it.

You are correct that I am stuck on the physical characteristics of blood vs. the sacramental presence of Christ. How I often hear (read) it, is that the Eucharist is the actual body/blood of Christ - which makes no sense to me at all.

What is the difference between sacramental presence and physical presence? Can you recommend a good reference to further study this?

The Eucharist IS the Body and Blood of Christ. It is a miracle, the daily miracle. Because it is a miracle, it is beyond all human and angelic understanding. Only the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of life, whom the Father sends to consecrate (sanctify) the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus, knows how the bread and wine change into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ.

In Acts 15, the Council at Jerusalem passed down the decision not to trouble the Gentile converts with certain Jewish practices. The summarization of their discussion was to tell the Gentile believers in Messiah to abstain from things contaminated by idols, from fornication, from that which is strangled, and from blood.

If they were to abstain from blood, how could they reconcile partaking of the Eucharist? I’m not understanding that if the bread and wine are truly the body & blood of Messiah, then how is that not only breaking the Law, but breaking the rules set forth by the Council at Jerusalem as well?

If Jesus was a human person, than yes, the Apostles would be contradicting themselves and breaking the Law. However, Jesus is a Divine Person. He is God and Man. He has humanity (body, blood, and soul) and divinity. The human nature and the divine nature are united in the Word, the second Person of the Trinity.

what blood is referred to here? specifically the blood of meat sacrificed to idols, the sacrifice to any other God other than the holy sacrifice of the Mass. The Mass is the UNbloody sacrifice of Calvary re-presented. The real body, blood, soul and divinity, whole and undivided are sacramentally (not physically) present under the FORM of bread and wine, which means the accidents, or physical properties of the sacramental elements are those of bread and wine, but the actual real substance of both elements is the whole, undivided Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are getting hung up on the physical characteristics of blood, and the sacramental presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

i’m sorry, i really believe you just misspoke, but the real body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ is present physically in the Eucharist-- the only thing changed is the accidents, as you said-- not the substance. Just because it doesn’t look or tase like Christ’s blood doesn’t mean He isn’t physically present. He is- that is what the source and summit of our faith is based upon.

for some people physical things are important, for some people spiritual things are important.

No doubt for me we are to bring the light (awareness) of God together with the physical world.

FOR ME maybe for you what i get from scripture is what counts, If i read about the offering Jesus (PBWH) made it is spiritual (deep emotion and awe of love) and calls me to action (the physical).

Men tell me about the body and blood being present, if i were to see it as flesh and blood I guess (but don’t know) i would not partake in it. In my present awareness it would be gory.

I dont hold anything against those that do it is great for them. At a personal level (no disrespect) i question to myself would they get the same understanding from prayer and scripture or did a man tell them.
Jesus (PBWH) showed me i dont need pharasis, sadaces, preists (no disrespect to any of theses that help people on their way) or any one between me and God just personal sacrifice. Jesus (PBWH) was the model of sacrifice and said he is the way to the Father.

But

That is so cool i want to be a part of it.

FOR ME i want to follow God (inspired by scripture) not man (com entry of scripture). I use the latter to help the first but don’t hang on it. When i do i waste this time doing less action inspired by the scripture.

If you like ask yourself what was FOR ME when i read scripture and prayed? was it of God? is God enough for me?
