For the most part, it seems very good, but then it raises some Vatican II issues.

I just don’t know…

I just took a quick look through their site–in the catechism lessons the Sacrament is referred to as “Extreme Unction” rather than “Annointing of the Sick” and in another place on the site, the validity of the new form is called into question.

Also there is a long article about the Indult Masses, which basically says you should not attend them. Here is a quote from that article (their emphasis): “the traditional Chapels, as well as the Priests and Laity who follow the traditional Magesterium and traditional Mass have preserved the entirety of the Catholic Faith while the Indult Mass only offers a small part, and this under compromise with a modernist hierarchy.” They also state flatly in their Catechism that “the Mass is in Latin”.

Just from the quick look, this looks like a SSPX site, or one run by an independent group–not one that is in full communion with the Church…🤷

I think that it’s worth keeping in ones bookmarks, especially because of its low cost store, but you need to avooid the section on the new Mass.

I would be hesitant. Either the site should be 100% legit, or wholly rejected, precisely because of the potential to lead people astray.

Evidently, some parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville are ok with them. I’ve seen their materials in the narthex of several churches in the area. olrl is an excellent source for devotional materials IMO.

(There are no indult Masses anymore, by virtue of the recent Motu Proprio. )

Herein lies my problem: but for that one deficiency, the site is awesome. But because it has that deficiency, I don’t know if it is reliable in any other aspect. One little line stated here or there can really change someone’s outlook.

I always feel the devil operates by giving us 99% of the truth…

Did I just answer my own question?

Anyway, does anyone know a comparable site that is 100% reliable?

There are problematic things to be sure on that site. They also sell some very good products at good prices.

If you have an ethical problem with buying authentically Catholic things from a “Christian” store that also promotes Protestant ideologies or an online bookstore that also sells anti-Christian atheistical books, then don’t buy from OLRL. If you have no problem buying good Catholic stuff from outlets that also sell things that promote an agenda contrary to the Catholic faith, then go ahead and buy from them.

Are any of us 100% legit? Do not ALL of us have the potential to lead people astray?

Forgive me, but this made me LOL.

I’m not a website, and I don’t purport to spread Catholic doctrine worldwide, 24 / 7.

I’ve ordered from them many years ago - where else can you get St. Alphonsus great books, especially Preparation for Death and the Passion and Death of Jesus for only $2.00? I’ve also gotten pamphlets and other devotional books that were really good.
