I struggle with a willingness to defend the “Truth” as I see it…fearful that my perception is faulty. I’d rather think in terms of likelihoods and possibilities. I.E. I prefer to say “The Catholic Church is very likely the One True Church” rather than say “It IS the One True Church”. I think the first sentence acknowledges my limited ability to seek the Truth and know I have found it but still reveals my own sense of certainty, while the other sentence seems pompous and over-confident.Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it. ~Andre Gide
However, I think the Church expects us to evangelize in a tone of certainty.
What say you all?
