Pope Paul VI is the only man in my lifetime whom i wanted to be elected Pope .
He was a courageous and prophetic Pope .
Little did I expect that I would live to see one of my heroes be canonized .
I rejoice .
The funeral of Pope Paul VI was on a Saturday afternoon and was broadcast by the BBC .
I recall going out to the pub that evening and hearing people who didn’t normally do “religious talk” talking about the funeral .
They were impressed by the silence of so many thousands .
