In fact Jesus alone has given a practical solution to the problem of evil in the way He lived and died which transformed the challenge of evil into an expression of love and liberation from self-destruction. He showed us how it is subordinate to goodness and to God’s power. He proved that although “the evil that men do lives after them” it is short-lived and although “the good is oft interred with their bones” it also endures forever. The men who tortured and crucified Our Lord are unknown and forgotten but His influence and power even in this fallen world and even from a secular point of view are the basis of the values of modern civilisation.I don’t think Christianity explains evil/suffering, but it does offer the ultimate solution, through Christ.
