A Relationship Between Atheists and Christians

            I find this song beautiful, and felt compelled to share my thoughts on it. I myself am an Atheist, but still hold certain values to remain inherent to what I consider truly important in life. I know this song depicts what are often seen as Christian values (I'm pretty certain Flyleaf is a Christian band), but would like to point out I share the same thoughts myself. There is a part of this song not shown in the lyrics, "He is teaching me what love really means." Rather I believe in "Him" or not, these lyrics depict to me a truer form of love than I often see, and it shows that whatever we may believe religiously, we can all share in something like this.

There are atheist and there are atheists. They are christians and they are christians.
Some atheist are militanty antireligion but some of them are simply people that for some reasons do not believe in God. And they are moral people too. And a christian can get in a moral dialogue with them. Think of Albert Camus, he was an atheist but he gave lectures in Catholic groups, and think of Orianna Fallaci, dying with a Cardinal on her side, wishing she was wrong about her atheism and calling herself a “christian atheist”.

I agree with you totally. So many of the arguments deal with nothing more than semantics.

A person who is a true athiest isn’t necessarily “anti-higher power.”
Often times it’s a problem with the “Religious” definition of God, or just being disgusted with the whole “Church-ianity insanity”. I know I reached that point in my journey, and while I never rejected God’s existance I had to take a long hard look at how he was defined.

The problem with the whole “God” thing is that as soon as you try to describe God you automatically limit Him somehow. See I did it just there by using the pronoun “Him”.

A person such as yourself, accepting that there is a “Truer Love”
just isn’t that far away from the truth. You are probably closer to the truth than many “Church goers.”

You seem to accept that there are powers (natural or supernatural) that are beyond what we normally see. That is where the Holy Spirit begins.
The Holy Spirit is just that:
the Spirit of Love, of God, of All
