Should any church (temple, synagogue) list as members (actual, proposed, possible) anyone who didn’t choose that religion?

Should any church (temple, synagogue) list as members (actual, proposed, possible) any dead person who didn’t choose that religion in life?

What if the relgion isn’t known to that person?
What if the religion wasn’t known to that person during life?
