Sorry for the generic title, it is 12:30 as I begin to type this. I would first, before I reveal my request, like to thank all those who prayed for me due to my last post. Me and my mother and brother have found a house to live in, and is better in all aspects than before: I am much closer to my parish (a good 10-15 minute walk) which means possible daily Mass and adoration when everything gets settled, the house is actually bigger than our old house, the cost of living is a good 45% less than before, the animals are acting much friendlier and relaxed (the old Chihuahua is actually acting a good three years younger), and my mother is much happier. So, thank you all.
Now to sadder business. I am in a relationship with a wonderful, modest young woman, a year my younger, who has a strong belief in Christ, however, she is unbaptized, her mother is Anti-Catholic and anti-her-daughter’s-current-boyfriend, and my girlfriend is a strict non-denominationalist (she doesn’t even attend regularly one church, but goes between churches). We have found together that, theologically, we are not too much different. However, I love talking about my faith – I will use literally ANY excuse to talk about it at length – I am very proud of the Catholic Church. Though I regularly tell her I love her, and I do, I have recently told her that any and all children I may have will be raised Catholic, no questions. She went silent, as if I had slapped her in the face. My mother was raised Catholic but converted to Southern Baptist when she married my father. I am NOT going to betray the Church like that. I have told her that I will not force her to convert, but I have given her as much evidence for Catholicism I could explain (I never promised I wouldn’t talk about it around her whenever I got the itch to). She seems bound to her parents’ (her father is a Baptist, her mother attends a Mennonite church) religious views, as the only excuse she has provided for not coming to Mass with me was that she did not want to anger her mother. I feel our relationship cracking beneath me. To be honest, I can let her go if it came to it – it would be hard, but possible. But I will cling to the Church. By her words, she has shown an interest in the Church, but fails to follow through with actions.
So, concisely (sorry for the lack of conciseness formerly) please pray for her so that she might come to accept the truth of Christ which only Rome can give fully, for her mother that she might see, if nothing else, that the Catholic Church teaches only the doctrines of Christ, for me, that I might humbly and fully serve our Lord, submitting to Rome, and not let the desires of the flesh and ego to claim me.
Thank you.
