It’s always sad to see them go. The Christmas decorations that is. 😃 I leave them up as long as possible, but it’s the week after the Baptism of the Lord and they must go. They bring so much joy and brightness to our home. I love glitter and lights. Most of all I love our nativity. I love to make ‘visits’ to the manger. DH says the nativity can stay, but it’s time everything else go. Today’s the big day. Siiiiiiiiigh… :bighanky:

Anyone else have this sad farewell each year? :o

Put all ours away on Saturday. Yes it is sad to see the house bare (especially since I could not find our winter decorations (snowmen and snowflake stuff) And it is too cold to go search in the cold garage.

We are starting to put away the decorations. But I keep the nativities up until Feb. 2, Candlemass, which was the end of the Christmas season on the old calendar. I understand that’s the day they take down the Nativity in St. Peter’s Square too.

Typically I do miss the tree - it’s just so darn pretty. 😦

But this year I really could not wait to get my living room back to normal. For some reason I just felt a need to get the space back, stop stepping on ornaments the cats kept pulling down, and the get back the ability to see out the front window again.

I think being sick for WEEKS has something to do with it - I just needed things clean, tidy, and in their place. :o

It’s great to hear I’m not alone. 😃 I see most of you beat me to it. I refuse to take mine down until after the Baptism of the Lord. 😛 Good idea ‘corki’ on the Nativity. Now if only I can convince DH about that notion. 😉

Try showig him this article. It seems that the Vatican originally planned to take the nativity down early this year but changed their mind and is keeping it up until Feb. 2 as it has been traditionally.

My decorations come down sometime between March & May. Springtime takes the plain, empty look away. As I also put cards on a wall, I reflect on the senders.

Trees with needles - no and lights are off, other stuff is fine for now.
