I have a couple of favourite saints already. St Nicholas and St Bernadette. But I’m wondering if there’s a really obvious saint I could ask to pray for me as I discern my conversion?
I’d suggest St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and Bl. John Henry Newman
Keep in mind the following. Sometimes it is more than just prayer that is needed.I have a couple of favourite saints already. St Nicholas and St Bernadette. But I’m wondering if there’s a really obvious saint I could ask to pray for me as I discern my conversion?
I think it was more of a general suggestion. Prayer and fasting are certainly very important, but so are studying the fundamentals of the Catholic faith, reading up a bit of Church history, and familiarizing oneself with the Sacraments of the Church. Somewhere along the line, a formal programme of instruction (such as RCIA) becomes another big step forwards. Are you suggesting fasting? Good idea. (unless you’re suggesting I’m demon-possessed)
That’s great!Oh yes, I’m doing much of that, barring RCIA, have been for some time now. My copy of the catechism is well thumbed.I was just curious as to who among the company of saints would be helpful to assist me, and I’ve had some great suggestions
. Newman is from the same place as I am geographically (and in terms of spiritual journey from what I’ve read) and I named my daughter for St. Augustine.
Yes I certainly am. Fasting is a lost art these days. Church Militant TV of Michael Voris fame is doing a 3 part series on “conversion” The first video was yesterday. I am including the link. Today will be the second and Friday the 3rd.Are you suggesting fasting? Good idea. (unless you’re suggesting I’m demon-possessed)
