A scenario that involves a little imagination

Now, this is going to seem extremely weird, but just curious about this.

So the plot… Genocide has broken out in the world, and successful. The Leader dies, and there are only 3 people left on the planet(Bare with me). All Catholic. One is Male, Other is Female, and one is a pilot/doctor(Female). The Male is on one side of the planet, the female is on other, and the pilot/doctor is with the male. the Male is crucially injured. The only way to repopulate is for the male to “eject” some sperm for the doctor/pilot to retrieve and send to the female across the world. Yes, the male will die before reaching the female.

Would this be sinful? Are there other non-sinful ways?

Please try to ignore the over imagination here…I would not blame you if you reported this.

Thanks.

I’d say at that point, mankind is pretty much done. Even if the infertile lady doctor manages to get the sperm to the other side of the world before it dies and the woman manages to concieve, the only two outcomes are, she has a girl and mankind is done for, or she has a boy that eventually will mate with his own mother. (ewww) Preposterous hypothetical situations designed to question moral issues existing in the real world always turn out dumb.

Why did the male, the infertile female, and the other female across the world kill everybody? And why do they want to make more people now? Are they not happy?

There is a real scientist (can’t remember who) who has come up with a scenario about a Mars station. He suggested a post-menopausal female, and a male, and one other to go, not to populate Mars, but to explore.

I figured I’d go with my friend, and my former pastor (who unfortunately has passed away recently). I am a historian and a female and an Air Force vet with lots of electrical and mechanical skills, plus, I am also a registered medical assistant… My friend is a scientist who trained to be an astro-geologist, besides being one of the most brilliant men I’ve had the privilege to know. We are both Catholic, so I thought having the Priest along would be good, also solving the “triangle” aspect of two males and a female. In addition this particular priest had a degree in construction engineering before he entered the seminary. It would have been great! Who knows… the good Father might have blessed the first marriage on Mars!

But I think it would be very hard to repopulate the Earth, unless both of the women were fertile, and God was on your side.

If God allowed the situation to exist as described, for all we know, it was His will that human life should come to an end. It has to, you know, ultimately. A biological race is no more “immortal” than your own body; the law of entropy will see to that.

In any case, these “hypotheticals” say nothing about morality in human life as it exists now.

I agree with the other posters that this situation is fairly ridiculous, but…

Even if the one remaining male is a bishop, he can’t ordain the women, and he won’t live long enough to ordain any future children. So if there are truly only those three people still alive, God would have to raise another bishop from the dead to continue apostolic succession. And then he would probably have to raise a few other people from the dead so that they can repopulate the planet.

(Do holy orders persist after death? That is, would a bishop raised from the dead still be a bishop? Hmm. :hypno: For that matter, marriage is “till death do us part”… I don’t recall if any of the people raised from the dead in the Bible were married.)

Ordination confers an indelible mark. Yes to zombie bishops. 😃

Since ordination involves the consecration of one’s hands; as long as he has the same set of hands, i.e., his original human body, he’d remain ordained, IMNAAHO.

The Bible records no marital status of anybody raised from death. Although, since with the exception of our LORD these were resuscitations to natural life, not resurrections to Heavenly life; methinks where natural life was resumed, marriage would also be.
