A selfish prayer?

After browsing some of the other prayer threads (cancer, dying,
surgeries, accidents…) my prayer seems selfish.
I am 37 years old never married and I just pray that if it is His will, God will send me a decent, honest, understanding, compassionate man like St. Joseph to spend my life with.

You have my prayers. BTW, in my opinion, as long as you accept God’s will, it is not selfish
 
Ditto on what ralphinal said.

A close friend of mine prayed for years for a husband and a family and it happened. She, too, was open to His will…

I think this is a beautiful thing to pray for and it is so important. We want to include the Lord in every aspect of our lives, including this very important sacrament. You are not being selfish!

Heavenly Father,

We pray for a good husband for this humble woman. She is looking to You, Father, to guide her to the right husband. Send to her someone who is honest, loving, compassionate, devoted to You and to family. You are a good and compassionate Father to all of your children. We know you want only what is best for all of us. We praise you and thank you for Your tender care.

Not at all selfish and yes, an important decision in life. I hope indeed and will be praying that The Lord will send you a man in the footsteps of St. Joseph to be your life partner and witness to God’s Tender Love…
 
praying for you. Don’t worry about it being selfish. We ask God for many favors, and it is up to Him if he will grant our requests, knowing what’s best for us. 🙂
 
I agree with the others that this is not selfish and such a needed prayer request. I did not get married until 33 years old and everyone said I was old, but I was not and neither are you. I am glad you are open to the will of God in case he is calling you to the religious life or the single’s life. I will pray for a good & holy Catholic man for you to share your life with and bless the world with children for our Lord.

Please don’t see yourself as selfish. As others have said, if you are seeking God’s will you can’t be selfish. I prayed 7 years for a red headed girl who was an angel waiting for wings. I married my red headed wife shortly after that time.

What a beautiful prayer.

I agree. I was 45 when I met my husband. I prayed and asked for the Lord’s will for me and He sent me more than I could have ever dreamed or hoped for. Praise God!! God is good!

Not selfish, sensable!

Dear God please send a real man to this real woman. Mother Mary, please help her to wait for the one who is for her and St. Joseph, please hurry him along.

If a man walks up to you and says “Joseph sent me” , just don’t swoon!
