That song at the end is ACDC or Metallica or one of those Satanic Heavy Metal bands. The dude playing the Fundamentalist commented later that he’s not a Christian. I didn’t realize at first that the whole thing was a satire.

I just whatched the Catholic vs. Protestant video. Oh man, the Protestant did ALL the talking as if he was doing the teaching! His comments were so simplistic and every day average fundemental propoganda.

I also whatched the “other video” and it mad me laugh! Oh boy how sad! “Richard, Richard, I want to be saved.” “Thumbs up.” LOL! To top it all off they had to play that noise music at the end.

Actually I think it was White Zombie, not that anyone probably really cares.
 
Could anyone here refute that Evangalical? He is clearly ignorant of the Catholic Church like some Non-Catholics here who think the same way as he does.

Yes of course. His comments have been answered a dozen times here. I used to use the same quotes against Catholicism when I was a Protestant.

Well believe what you will, it’s the truth. A Couple years later he was arrested for embezeling money from the Church. Yelling seemed to be one of his favorite pastimes. Well Yelling and stealing money:
LAS CRUCES — A priest with a gambling problem controlled a charity account at a Catholic church where investigators uncovered a $19,000 discrepancy. The discrepancy was found while investigators were looking into the loss of $127,000 from the collection box at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral over a three-year period.

According to two affidavits for search warrants issued in January, money in the charity account at the church was under the control of Fr. Tom Beggane. Last Nov., Bp. Ricardo Ramirez said Beggane admitted to a gambling problem and agreed to reimburse the church for “tens of thousands” of dollars. Affidavits note Beggane has admitted to gambling but has insisted he had no gambling problem.

The only crime reported to the police by church officials was a theft from a collection box in April 1998 after $500 disappeared. I’m not saying all priests are like him, but there are people out there who are priests who should not be. Just because I had to deal with such a man, is no reason to call me a liar.
 
Yep, Jesus was right, there will always be weeds amongst the wheat…

Just recently the “Assembly of God” pastor over in the next town got arrested and convicted of embezzlement. Church was shut down shortly after the arrest. Bank foreclosed on the property.

In the last 2 years 3 Protestant pastors in the area have been arrested for child molestation.

I don’t know…there are many of us who believe that the Catholic Church has yet to effectively refute these contentions.

One thing that gets me is this “niceness” mess where we act like we are afraid to be “awefensive” and lay out the facts and let the Holy Spirit do His work on them.

I have found that the vast majority of “witnessing” a-Cs don’t seem to really give a rip if they offend us by talking their smack about our most holy faith, and so I just smile and keep refuting them until they either say they are wrong or decide that they really need to get somewhere.

It also ruins their whole day that a Catholic knows his way around the Word of God.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

So, CM, I find that when a poor, unsuspecting, fundamentalist comes on with one of the usual assaults: worshiping Mary, statues, confession, priestly celibacy, SS/SF/OSAS . . . And I respond (mildly, gently, REALLY non-offensively) with a deprecatory comment, like, "Well, the scriptural basis of the Catholic teaching is in (quote, cite) and then follow up with an incredulous head-shake and “WHERE do peole GET the idea that Catholic teaching isn’t SCRIPTURAL?” They’re scared to bring up anything with me again. Even if I broach a subject I know they’re deliriously misinformed about, they refuse to engage. Where do you go from there?

Hello Mercygate,

I had a similar experience this last weekend. An Indian man (evangelical Christian), I told him I’m Catholic, and I knew he’d jump at the opportunity to “evangelize” me. If only fish in the water were so easy to bait 😃

“Oh, Roman Catholicism…yeeeess…you place tradition equal with Scripture, is that right?”

To which I simply responded " Well, according to the Apostle Paul, Scripture is Tradition, it is the written part of Tradition."

We had a nice little conversation. Though, I could sense he was getting nervous as I proceeded to counter-interrogate him.

I suppose that if it is someone you may potentially be able to see again, it may be worth not only briefly answering their questions/accusations, but also asking them some questions regarding their beliefs. That way it’s not merely you responding, they have a responsorial part as well.

Maybe that would make them feel less “run-offish.”

Now you’re making sense. I tend to stay in the defensive mode, and though I try to pretend I’m humble, I really want to squash 'em like bugs. Tsk. Tsk. I guess I’ll have to bring that up next time I go to confession.

It is sad that so many non-Catholics know sacred scripture better than do Catholics. It’s not fair to blame our CCD and RCIA programs entirely though. We each have a personal responsibility to ourselves and especially to our children to ensure we read scripture every day, and to catechise.

I am a cradle Catholic, but my parents fell away from the faith before I was confirmed. I’ve struggled on my own to find and learn my faith. My dad told me at one time that the reason we stopped going to church was because the region we moved to did not offer religious education classes. Although I ADORE my parents, no doubt this was a missed calling for them. They would have done a better job than anyone teaching their own children the faith. My dad thinks it’s the fault of the church that so many Catholics don’t know their faith. The church is made up of the people. It’s our responsibility individually to know it, live it, and evangelize it!!! Many people live it, and know it is beautiful because they live it, but they don’t know why it is beautiful, nor are they able to evangelize and tell others why it is beautiful.

I will be confirmed this Pentacost Sunday, God willing. It’s something I’ve longed for for nearly twenty years!

The passage I was referring to is in 2nd Thessalonians:
II Thessalonians 2:15
“So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.”

The idea is that the oral (“word of mouth”) and the Epistles (“letters from us”) some of which are Scripture, are both “traditions.”

That verse will probably be on your “top 10 list” along with perhaps I Timothy 3:15

That song you guys were talking about is called Dragula (sp?) by Rob Zombie. I believe it was played in a movie called… um… can’t remember what it’s called actually, but it’s about the war between vampires and werewolves.
