I came across this and thought it might be useful for those who don’t know much about Eastern Catholicism or also for those looking to have a quick primer at hand to share with others. Instead of our Eastern Catholic brethren having to say the same thing over and over, perhaps they could just link this article and move on. 😃

I am no expert on the subject, so I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the descriptions the article contains. What I can say, is that I have used this website in the past and found it to be quite good. However, I would be surprised if there were not a thing or two which was not explained to the satisfaction of some. That’s pretty much how these things go it seems.

I definitely learned a few things from the article and in particular, I found the short descriptions of the different Catholic Churches interesting.

Regardless, I hope people enjoy it or perhaps get some use out of it.

Peace of Christ,

It is fairly short and is incomplete and somewhat inaccurate, as there is no Georgian Catholic Church sui iuris. The best summary I have seen is at CNEWA (including the 2012 Annuario Pontifico statistics). There have been some name revisions lately. For example Byzantine Church in Italy (for Italo-Albanian), and The Byzantine Church of Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, and the Apostolic Exarchatein Macedonia. Also and Ruthenian includes Mukachevo and USA.

Thanks. I figured there were going to be a few issues on such a complex topic.
