I always felt I had a pretty strong sense of self worth. But yesterday I heard the words everyone dreads…“I am sorry, but your job was eliminated” For the past 28+years, I have worked as a nurse aide in maternity. And now, at 55 I have to start all over again. Needless to say, shocked doesn’t even begin to describe all the emotions I am feeling. But I figured that God has a reason for all of this, so I didn’t want to pity myself too much. I figured at least I didn’t have kids at home. So I said “Lord, please help me to get thru this. Show me a way”
The mail was in the vestibule when I came home. I picked it up, tossed it on the table. It was mostly junk anyway, and I was in no mood to read. Later when I sorted thru the pleas for help, the cemetary ads, and pizza coupons, there was an envelope from the Association Of Marian Helpers. I opened it and out fell two sympathy cards. I started crying all over again. Then I looked at the pictures. One was the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Now I had seen that lots of times before, but I really looked at it and it was if Jesus was telling me"your heart is strong. You will make it"
The other card was a guy fishing with this verse on the side" They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar as with eagles wings" from Isaiah 40:31. Needless to say I was a bit taken aback as I felt this was the good Lord telling me I would be ok. But He wasn’t done with me yet. I always read the bible before bed. I read a passage from the bible then a corresponding story. The bible passage I read last evening was from Hebrews 11, " Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen"
So after three “signs” from above, I have to “give it to the Lord” and know that He and I will weather this storm.
Don’t ever give up. The Lord truly does work in mysterious ways.

Thanks for listening,
Kathy

Kathy, I can’t believe that, that after 28 years…that happened…but…BUT, you are right. God’s signs were just for you. He is always ‘on time’ to help us, no matter what. You are a strong lady, your posts are always dead on, and inspiring. I know that you will get through this, as God always provides. (How neat that you received those ‘signs’ in the mail just when you needed them?) I always hold a passage in Scripture dear to my heart…in Matthew, Jesus telling His followers…'do not worry. If God takes care of the little sparrows, how much more will He care for you?" (I’m paraphrasing)

Praying!

Kathy,
I love your faith! You are strong.
I am soooo sorry that you have had a set back. That is all it is. God has already showed you His loving hand.

I have added you to my daily rosary.

I am so sorry for your job loss. :console: These are such incredibly difficult times right now. I can’t believe they let you go after being with them for so long. 😦 Your strength is amazing. I pray you find new employment soon. And, you are right, we must be thankful for the silver lining. That you can still be thankful to God for something after loosing so much shows that you are a woman of great faith. 🙂 You are an inspiration to us all. Anyone of us could easily be in your shoes tomorrow. :sad_yes: I hope we would take it so well and with such faith. You are in my prayers as are all who have lost employment. God bless. :hug3:

Prayers for you, Kathy… I’m so sorry to hear about your job. 😦
Christ will never abandon us… keep your heart strong.
