The issue with Henry is breaking away from the One True Church – whatever the pretext.
Unfortunately Henry wanted a divorce/annulment and when that was denied him, he used that as pretext to break away from the Church.
And, please, refer me to a credible source of your information about a Pope who was having sexual intercourse with his own mom … that is a serious scandal!

**The above is where you will find some info, on the Pope and his mother and mistress!
My source is The Chair of S.Peter.

Hi, Seamusmohr,

I have to had it to you … truly a creative way of avoiding the word ‘convenience’! 👍
Custom and practice! That is why Henry asked for an annulment from the pope!
he would have got one but for the unfortunate circumstances mentioned in an earlier post! When he couldn’ t move the pope,Henry or Cranmer, bethought themselves of the answer that had been held by thousands, the teachings of the Councils whose authority the pope had usurped!
The realities are far from flattering for England’s former monarch! Let’s just take a couple from your own post!

“That is why he ASKED for an annulment…” Henry had previously been awarded the Defender of the Faith award by the Pope. This was no “cutomary or practical” way to recognize a monarch. (Now, St. Thomas More probably wrote the document - but, it would be unjust to say Henry was unaware of the Pope’s role in the Catholic Church. By asking, Henry acknowledge he was not the last word on this matter and that there was a higher authority that had to be considered.

The pope was not a prisoner - so, if you say he was, you will need to supply credible evidence. But, I think I will have to wait in line for that … I believe othes have gone before me asking for evidence for other claims you have made.

An answer that had been “…held by thousands…”, eh? Well prior to former Catholic Monarch, Henry VIII’s break with the Catholic Church in 1534 when he formally declared himself “the only supreme head in earth of the Church of England” there were thousands who disagreed with the Pope! They are usually considered as heretics and refused to take guidance from the Pope. The authority of the Pope was acknowledged by the Earch Church Fathers.

Trying to bend the Pope’s arm to get a decision favorable to one’s position is hardly convincing evidence of one having a valid claim. Besides, what really complicated matters is that Henry had already gone to the Pope for special permission to marry Catherine of Aragon law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/more/leviticus.html and this permission was granted.

Spending your time defending an adulterous king for his desire not only for more sex from whomever he chose - but, to debase marriage as something he defined on an ad hoc basis is certainly your privledge - not acknowledging his failings in this area is a genuine disappointment.

God bless

Hi, Placido,

Nooooooooooooooo… it is really very, very sad.

God bless
So, your source is a website that says “Jesus never existed”? And you consider it a credible source of Christian information? That is amazing!

Friend,
Anglican Church was never Catholic? You’ve been reading penny dreadfuls, the Church in Britain has a Catholic History of some two thousand years, just refresh me where it falls short, please! I’m talking about the Church , not individuals by the way!
Neither did Henry leave the Church, there was no separation until Eliza’s time 1570 AD, when the Roman Catholics left the Church and set up their own altars. becoming a Sect in the process!!
The Monarch,/ State or whatever? In what ever country is the First Magistrate/That is what Henry was, and is interested in the goings on of the Church, Henry was no different than anyone else also the Church should be under the law. The present bankrupt state of many of the Roman Catholic diocese proves that point!

What do you think the Pope did as Ruler of Rome and Northern Italy, divorce himself from reality? As Bishop Cosin, said ,[roughly,] ‘My footman has as much to say as the King’.
That Henry was a monster, I’ve no doubt, but believe me that is a line no Roman Catholic should go down, because the place it leads to is full of papal crimes as well as Royal ones!

The Church was in Britain some years after the Crucifixtion, it has a life that is clearly recorded and attested.
Maaan, your ignorance of history is terribly painful.

You are Anglican and you don’t even know your own history.

May be a false flag ops – a third force trying to create or increase friction between Anglicans and Catholics.
