I won’t go into the details, but years ago a twelve-year-old hated going to church. When it came time to go up for Communion, she took the Host on her tongue, but on the way back to her seat rolled her eyes and bit hard on the Host, thinking of how she was hurting Jesus physically, in addition to His suffering on the Cross. Years have passed, and now she is a very devout Catholic. She has told me of this, something I never knew about her, and it’s a long story of how she eventually came around….But now, she has told me, she is horrified that she ever could have done such a thing. She has never confessed it because she feels any priest could never have heard of such a thing. We all know that everyone always says there is nothing a priest hasn’t heard….but even I’m not too sure about this. I’ve told her maybe since it is in her past, and it has been years since she’s felt that way, she is already forgiven. Even I wonder, however, if her desecration of the Host those many years ago may be just so unthinkable that God could never forgive it. I don’t know what to tell her, because I’m uncertain myself, so I just thought I would ask on here. I was horrified, though the fact that she now deeply loves Jesus and has long since grown in her faith, I feel she may already be forgiven for what she’s done.
My question is, should she confess this, or just let it go? She’s already told Jesus in prayer that she is deeply horrified and resentful and sorry for what she did.
Thanks for any enlightenment. I can’t imagine any priest has heard something like this.
