I would like to apologize to everyone reading this thread. I mistakenly posted the name of the pastor I had issue with, and I shouldn’t have. I made a mistake. I have been duly informed by the moderator, who has edited my messages. It will not happen again.

I need to go to confession now…😉

God bless,

Amie,

I thought your letter was gracious and accurate. Good job. Based on the response, I would suggest writing to the Bishop, and include the pastor’s response.

Amie:
Thank you for your insight. Have a good day!
:hmmm:
At first glance, the brevity of his reply seems to hint of sarcasm, indifference, and pride. Hopefully, he is just very short on time and perhaps somewhat embarassed by this obvious mistake.

Nevertheless, I agree that it is still prudent and justifiable to forward this information to the Archdiocese. Perhaps there are similar situations occurring in other nearby parishes (which around here is very possible). At the very least, the Bishops may issue a friendly reminder that this sort of thing is not allowed.

I would definitely go ahead and forward your letter and the response to the bishop. Since you haven’t had a chance to see if the abuse actually was corrected, however, I would include another short explanation offering that fact while stating that the reply of the priest does not seem to imply a remedy of the situation.

Thank you! I was beginning to feel like I was in Twilight Zone or something this past Sunday… and the way the pastor talked, I walked away wondering if I was wrong, but now I know my gut was right!!!

I’m still looking for quotes or places to look to formulate a response to this pastor… I don’t think he’d appreciate the “Guarantee I’m Really Misinformed.” item… but I DO!! 👍

I’d take it to his bishop.

That’s awesome. I’d like to see more skits at mass. Why must it *always *be about God?
This caught me off guard for a moment. I thought you were serious.

This is why whenever I am going out of town and want to find a mass I either do net research or just simply ask around here where to find a good one. It would be nice if there was a net directory that reviewed parishes based on their liturgical faithfulness.

Good advice. I look for a perpetual adoration. That’s normally a good sign.

Hello everyone! I sent the email to a bishop in our archdiocese. Unfortunately, we have several, and I got the wrong one (their webpage doesn’t tell you which bishop to go to for which region). BUT, I did get a positive response! See below:

"Amy, of course you are correct about all this. Since St._ is in Bishop So-and-so’s region, I suggest that you present your concerns to him. It would be inappropriate of me to do so. Thanks also for your kind words about Fr. “A” and Fr. “B” (priests from my parish who I mentioned were wonderful, Godly men).

So, I have hope that something will be done about this. I am praying for this parish, and this priest. I know that he thinks he is doing the right thing for his parish, but I also know that obedience to our church should be first. I just hope it all works out. Thank you all for your help… I’ll keep you updated should I get another response from Bishop so-and-so! 😉

God bless,
-Amy
