Please, I need a solid source-preferably a website-where I can find solid info for a Protestant relative who is wanting to know when the Church started. He wants specific answers so any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Is your relative proposing some other start date than pentecost, or the first century?

No, but I know that’s what I would tell him, but the thing is he won’t accept that. He will say “how” or 'prove it." I need something that is clear cut that gives solid explanations for WHY Pentecost was the start of the Church.

IF your relative would prefer a non-Catholic view, try this. It is from the website of a Lutheran Church Missouri Synod parish.
Pentecost is the great festival that marks the birth of the Christian church by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Hope that is helpful.

JL: How about scripture, can’t get anymore solid source. The following posts are my scriptural evidence for the Church.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentecost

"Among Christians, Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Twelve apostles and other followers of Jesus as described in the Acts of the Apostles 2:1-31.[3] For this reason, Pentecost is sometimes described as the “Birthday of the Church.”

Peace
David

I agree with what David said. Pentecost is considered the beginning of the Church because it was when the Apostles received the commission from the Holy Spirit and began its mission of preaching the good news.
