A Spirituality of the Heart

I had a good talk with Father last night; got a lot of things off my chest and he agreed to become my spiritual director.

The main thing I came away with was that he wants me to focus on my devotions to the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart.

Looking at it from the heart approach, not the mind; I’m seeing that everything is simplified and I’m going from there. Looking at my faith, my works and my sins from a Love angle. When I act from love, I’m doing well and when I don’t, my sins aren’t rule breaking; but a betrayal of love.

The basics I’m seeing is finding my refuge in the Immaculate Heart.

Also, he said to focus on walking my faith and not on preaching to others or my family.

I think this is very wise. Because family members are too close to you personally/emotionally to be impartial listeners. Remember people did not listen to Jesus in his hometown either.

Yeah, he also said that a good faith walk is much more effective preaching and to pray for their conversion; referencing Saints Monica and Francis of Assisi.

So true, Dan. Father also consecrated me to the Immaculate Heart after Mass today using the prayer on the Blue Army website.

Michael, I have no anger in sharing that at all. I was hoping it would be a humorous little jingle that could be helpful.

Moral rules are societies lowest level of keeping peace, order, charity. The truth is that they don’t work. Love through grace is what Jesus taught us; it is the new and higher order. We get there through use of the sacraments.

Times when some suppress others’ (lets say a council is held and sanctions are placed to put pressure on a dictator) or when others suppress the rights of others as a penalty are not an indicator of peacetime. This is not peace and it is not love.
