Has anyone out there read “A Stolen Life” by Jaycee Dugard? A friend of my daughters is required to do a project on it as part of a high school senior psychology class. The teacher is a former nun who “hates the pope.” He said that, according to the teacher, its a book about Catholic mind control." Has anyone out there read it?

It’s not about Catholic mind control.
It’s the true story of an 11 year old girl who was kidnapped and held prisoner by an man and his wife for 18 years.

This girl has been on the news and is an outspoken advocate for abused kids.

What that “teacher” is thinking is beyond me. She sounds like a sicko for assigning this trash to a student. There aren’t more positive subjects to work on? 🤷

If a teacher said that a book was “about Jewish mind control,” he or she would rightly be fired. There’s no place for that kind of bigotry in schools. I’d complain to the principal and the school board if those allegations are true.

We should ask God to help this former nun who we are told “hates the Pope” so that she may better serve Him as well as her students.

Yes, this was a huge news story a few years ago. While her captivity may have involved some degree of mind control, it certainly wasn’t Catholic. At least, not in the mainstream sense of the word.

Her captor was about as Catholic as the Westboro Baptist Church is Baptist. Way, way out on the fringe.

Here is a bit of background
Dugard, 31, and her two children, ages 14 and 17, have been living at an undisclosed California location since being found by authorities in 2009 - 18 years after she was abducted from a South Lake Tahoe bus stop.
She was held by Phillip and Nancy Garrido in their Antioch backyard, where she gave birth to two children conceived by rape.
Phillip Garrido is serving a 431-year prison sentence, and Nancy Garrido is serving 36 years to life, after both struck plea deals on kidnapping and rape charges. The state of California paid Dugard a $20 million settlement under which officials acknowledged repeated mistakes were made by parole agents responsible for monitoring Phillip Garrido, who was a convicted rapist.
